Acceptable carbs for the street

Thank you John. I hear what you're saying about over carbureting an engine. If this were strictly a drag car, I might be open to slightly larger cfm carbs but realistically I'm down to 3 (possibly just 2) choices. It would be interesting to know if there is a difference between original Max Wedge Cross ram 750 AFB carbs (3705SA) vs more modern Carter Competition Series (4760) 750s? If it is a wash, I could eliminate one. I'm also considering a pair of new AVS2 650 carbs with annular boosters for the throttle response as suggested by Vertex_Jeff. Maybe I'll try a set of 750s and the AVS2s and see which pair the engine likes best. So now, it's a matter of getting the engine together for this Spring.

FYI - For 1 season , I ran a pair of 800 cfm AVS2's on a 440 (before my stroker build). They ran great on the street, and I got the 3500lb car to run 11.1's at the track. (with the air door secondaries, I wouldn't worry about them being rated at 800 cfm being too big)
I only switched over to Holley style carbs when I decided the car was 90% track, 10% street, and I wanted more adjust-ability with the carbs at the track. (air bleeds, idle jets etc)

Actually, I've run one of those before. It ran good. Might not be the best choice for his application though. But it did make more than 1,500 hp though.
