Acceptable carbs for the street

-
How many miles a year are you going to put on it?
I dunno yet. There are many variables such as: Will the local track be open and for how much longer; What is the weather like; Where do we choose to go in it; etc. I'm in the Pacific NW and don't plan on going to MATS or the Nationals with it; maybe a 50 mi radius?

What carbs are you more comfortable/experienced at tuning edlebrock holley etc.. ?
I buy a pair that you know well that are sized right.

I have dabbled with all of them and am confident I can get a good tune (AFR meters are your friend!) with whichever I choose but, if not, I know there is a wealth of knowledge here to help me sort it out.

The Carter and Edelbrock are dry flowed. I flow tested a 600 cfm AFB and it did just about dead bugs on exactly that.

Holley, as I understand it, wet flows there carbs.

Is there a difference somewhere in this?

IDK

Someone with a whole lot more experience and time than me should do a study/testing of wet vs dry, Carter vs Edelbrock vs Holley, 500 vs 600 vs 650 vs 750,... etc. Maybe it's been done and I'm just not aware of it? Probably deserves a thread of its own. Anyone?

I’ve done some work on the 600 AFB in modifications. Some still have to be tested. As far as I’m concerned, the airflow ratings are accurate.

I've really become a big fan of the new Street Demon 3 barrel carburetors.

Edelbrock Performer/Carter AFB's are good.
AVS/AVS2 are very good street carbs. I've used the AVS in the past with good results.
If you got the knowhow and resources the Carter Thermoquads are pretty good too, but unfortunately not much aftermarket support.
I really like the Street Demons. Been daily driving with them on my duster in rain, shine and snow since 2017.

I love TQs too but this is a Hemi cross ram and I want to stay close to original. If this was an inline situation, I'd have no problem mounting two TQs just to be different & to irriate the purists but I've got to keep this within the "look" of a LO23.

I got a pair of AFB's with my max when I got it. I'm almost positive they are 3705s, tho there is not a significant # on either one.
Chokes missing from mine, when I got em.

I read somewhere on one of the racer threads (not a Mopar thread, maybe yellow bullet?) where someone had done exactly that. I have no clue where I saw it, however. If faulty memory serves, wet flow seemed to be about 95%, roughly, of dry flow.

Edit: a Google search found it, on Speed Talk.

Good on ya! I'll look into it. Thanks.
