Hello all, I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I was wondering can I remove the AC compressor and all it components or would I need to buy a few items like Pulley, harmonic balancer, Alternator bracket, ect...

Or is it just remove the compressor/ anything AC related, add a non AC belt and done?

wanted to know if there was an easy cheap way of doing it. If not can you explain what I need to get so I can start making a list and getting the pieces needed. Engine is a 400 big block. thanks everyone and happy holidays

I took it off my Newport years ago by getting the non-AC alternator bracket, losing the idler, and using washers and longer bolts to get the pulley alignment right... Look ugly but worked long term. The "right way" would be to replace the pulleys and alternator brackets with non AC stuff (crank, water pump, and alternator pulleys).

There is a pulley misalignment when you remove just the A/C and try and run a belt.
Best advice above, new pulleys and brackets.

I guess I knew it wasn't going to be the cheap and easy way. Im going to start to make a list on what I need and I'll list it here to see if I missed anything. hopefully I can get the extra $ to afford everything... unless I hit another project or some home improvement. :D

Well you can recoup some of the money needed by selling the brackets you have. There are guys like me who want to add AC. Keep me in mind.
