Ahhh I get it now, so if it drops the piston will catch it and it won't just fall in the cylinderPost 23. That is why you have the piston at or near TDC, in case the valve drops.

ThanksGo into the job with positive thinking. Then u will succeed. If u go in thinking I can’t do this or I don’t want to do this failure is imminent. Just take your time and go slow and steady. Kim
Just go slow with the spring compressor and if you notice the keepers are stuck on the valve stem, back off and take a socket, place it over the valve stem and give it a firm tap. That should loosen the keepers. Just keep in your mind, if the keepers are stuck, the valve will not drop and if you can remove the keepers the valve will not drop as long as you have your air pressure applied. Good luck!!!Go into the job with positive thinking. Then u will succeed. If u go in thinking I can’t do this or I don’t want to do this failure is imminent. Please explain, what are you suspecting from the plug? . . .I was just thinking running rich / maybe to much tooling around and the car is loading upYou got more than a seal problem. Kim
Yeah ? Couldn't hurt I guessMight want to do a compression test before you change out the seal.
Looks like too much oil to be a seal problem. I would say the rings are worn out. KimPlease explain, what are you suspecting from the plug? . . .I was just thinking running rich / maybe to much tooling around and the car is loading up
Engine was rebuilt approx. 10yrs ago but only has 4k street miles on it , not beat on. . .Looks like too much oil to be a seal problem. I would say the rings are worn out. Kim
Rebuilt or re ringed? Big difference. Rings could be put in upside down or got broken on install. KimEngine was rebuilt approx. 10yrs ago but only has 4k street miles on it , not beat on. . .
Rebuilt , New rotating assembly etc.Rebuilt or re ringed? Big difference. Rings could be put in upside down or got broken on install. Kim
100% good ideaI would take all the plugs out. Keep track of what cylinder they came out of and compare them to each other. Since you already have all the plugs out it would be a good time to do a compression test. Write down what each cylinder has and compare to the spark plugs. Hopefully all will be good.
New doesn’t always mean good. KimRebuilt , New rotating assembly etc.
Going to pull plugs and do a compression test in morning as recommended. Hopefully for my sake all checks out wellNew doesn’t always mean good. Kim
Even if u have good compression it doesn’t mean that the oil rings are any good. KimGoing to pull plugs and do a compression test in morning as recommended. Hopefully for my sake all checks out well
