    I love model railroading as well but my stuff had to get put up when we had our daughter there wasnt room for everything. I still have it all but havent added to it or even pulled it out in a while now . most of it was my uncles who died just a few months before my daughter was born so it means to much to get rid of it .
    I anyone is interested im a truck driver and i haul chrysler ford freightliner and international parts to the rail yard everyday that go to mexico .
    And rani i noticed you live in colorado I dont know if youve done this or not but if not get on 70 and head west there are areas west of denver that are breathtaking with the mountain views and the railway tunnels that cut right through the middle of the mountains its really cool to see one of them come out of the tunnel as your driving along .
    another good place is I-80 after sparks nv and into cali. its called donners pass lots of old railroads and remains of old mining equipment from the gold rush and again trains coming right out the side of a mountain very cool to see if you never it .

    Hey 66340SEDAN, great pics of SP 4449. I always thought the "Daylight" was one of the prettiest paint schemes.
    Does anybody remember when ol' 4449 was repainted and used to haul the Freedom Train for the Bicentennial? Check out this YouTube video:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcZjf27YHF4"]AFT 4449 (American Freedom Train) East End District 1976 - YouTube[/ame]

    And great pics from memike of Union Pacific 3985, one of the two remaining Challenger-class 4-6-6-4 locomotives from the original build of 150. UP 3985 is currently the largest and heaviest operational locomotive in the world with a combined locomotive and tender weight of 1,073,900 pounds. Here's a great YouTube video of a run to Omaha:

    Absolutely beautiful to watch these marvels of engineering do their thing!

    The Detroit zoo is still using the Chrysler-built locomotive shown at the beginning of this thread. It was restored several years ago and is painted a different color. I went to the zoo a couple years ago, rode the train and had a good up-close look at it. Quite a piece of work, very nicely done.

    Been keeping up with this story the past month or so.. I am so excited that one of my favorite steam engines ever will get restored (again) back to running condition.. I never got to see this engine in person, and they retired it from excursion service by 93... You can bet the bank when its back on the high iron I will make it a point to travel to see her...

    Well it's time to update this thread. I've been chasing the Norfolk Southern Heritage Units fleet. There painted up in the past railroads that NS acquired over the years. I thought I would share a bunch of my misc. picture's I have taken.

    You need to put a shelf all the way around the room about 8" from the ceiling and you can run the trains up there. I'll post some picture of how i've got mine set up running along the ceiling.
