Am I crazy or is this project Duster way overpriced?

70 is the best year for sure!

I paid $800 for this 71 in 2022 even had a 440 in it with fender wells and elephant ears. Internet, like minded car forums and swap meets are not the place to find deals. I found this in a cattle pasture in Oklahoma just driving around looking for cars to bring back to Wisconsin.

Ok. is good state for old car hunting, but most are rough and hard to find anything less than $1500 or so.
Be careful of wood hippies and old guys that will shoot at ya.

No, not really. Dusters produced in 73 and 74 in many ways are better than the early cars. They have factory Electronic Ignition, Better Front Suspension with larger spindles and big bolt pattern wheels, Real Seat Belts, and a safety beam inside the front doors. The 74 360 Duster was best Duster, and as powerful as the early 340's. It came with a 850 cfm Thermoquad, front Sway Bar, Disc Brakes etc.

Everyone has their opinion but mostly beakers don’t sell as good

When does rust not equal rust??? He has a closeup of the tail panel that clearly has rust on it, yet he says it has no rust but only a little surface rust??

Original paint? Since when was the roof rail gutter trim painted body colour? Weren’t they all chrome? Yet the posting says original paint? If the roof rail gutter trim got sprayed yellow something tells me other parts of the car also were resprayed. Sure it has original paint but it’s under non original paint.

$15k is the ‘I don’t wanna sell it price’.

If the car didn’t get a vinyl roof then the roof gutters could have been painted body color in the absence of a trim package that would have gotten the chrome trim.

The “golden fawn” color is absolutely original paint, and the roof gutters on my ‘74 Duster don’t have chrome trim and it does have body color painted gutters…

I agree with the above statements, but myself, I hate the plastic interior pieces, as in the plastic covers in the A pillow, top of doors, the SMALL interior door handles, the silly 5 mph bumpers...I really don't mind the beaker look so much.
And pretty much fact is any old car built after 71 or maybe2 losses a lot of value, except the silly late 70s Trans Am's!

So take spindles and control arms and K frame since it has superior spool mounts from a 73+ and put it all under the 70-71 and you have the perfect car.

Yea, Spool Mounts are another 73-74 improvement
And the sway bars run through the K for dramatically improved ground clearance to the bar. And the bar doesn’t get in the way of tires wider than 235.

^^^ I agree, but I dislike the 73 up interior plastic, the tiny inside door handles but yes it can all be done. 5 mph bumpers are so UGLY on any car!!! Those thin bumpers make the early Dusters!!
Decent project/builders have got hard to find around here and silly asking $ and always too darn far for me to just take off from here for a couple of days.
