my aunt and uncle were here this evening when i was getting ready for a shower and they didnt know what i was doing .....when they saw me go to the garage and i got my dash bezel, dash top air vents and arm rest bases they asked what i was doing....i replied that i was going to take a shower.

they asked whats with the car parts then....i said ....well they are dirty and im washing them for paint prep in the morning.......they said ..."in the shower with you" ....i said "ummmm why not"

so im going to show them this thread to show them two things

1. that im not strange

2. any car person does the same

so help me out guys ....have you ever taken a car part into the shower or bath with you to share the scrubby bubbles.

i have been doing this for years and i dont think its strange .....shampoo is a great general purpose cleanser and the water is hot which helps clean ......usually the parts are very clean and ready for paint after that.

Nope dont shower with parts here rani thats what a slop sink is for. Or sawhorses and a sheet of painted plywood out in the yard with a hose

well its cold out here ...plus i dont mean greasy engine parts ...i mean stuff that just dirty with dirt and age and needs that extra scrubby for paint prep

I havta admit, I've never done that. I have, however, stepped into a shower with most of the dirt that HAD been on parts on ME!!!

I will save you and agree that I have used the Bath/Shower to clean car parts........I have even used shampoo to clean plastic stuff like armrests, and door handle cups.

I have never bathe'd while cleaning parts.....but hey'...I can see a benefit...I am down with water conservation!!!

I have to admit, that's a pretty damn good idea.

Yep , used to hang parts off of my showerhead , mostly plastic trim or chrome trim , even plastic door panels from my Charger .

66340SEDAN washed some 68 Barracuda parts in a motel bath/shower...but he didn't jump in with them

Did it once when I cleaned my chevelle's tail lights all 4 of them. They came out real pretty.

That is a good idea if you are tiny like Rani. Once I get myself in the shower there is not a lot of room( that is because my shower stall is not very big). My shower is only a one person shower!

You are really strange!!!!! I thought I was a car nut but you are way out there.

I have washed dirty but not greasy parts in a bath tub (dishwasher preferred if it will fit) but I am not about to take a shower with them.

New meaning to car & ****. LOL!

Sorry kiddo, slop sink it is!

My GF will not let me use it any more or the sink she hears the dishwasher running .. she yells at me lol So whats left lol

in a way after this happened and my aunt and uncle thinking im a weirdo.....kinda makes me want to live alone even though they leave me alone most of the time but this is still their house ....i mean like completely ALONE,like a hermit .....

that way i can do WHATEVER i want and no one there to look at me strange.

maybe i will make a bedroom into a paint booth or something ...i dont know. definately makes me not want to get married and have some man over here telling me what to do and taking my cars from me.

LOL Rani you need to find some one thats into the same stuff you are and no one (even if you are with them ) should be able to take your cars

Yep, Rani gotta admit, as lazy as I am, I can be a bit of a multi-tasker, so the inst bezel was my shower buddy.....wouldnt wash my back though....

OK, I'll admit that I'm probably the kookiest guy in Michigan, and I have absolutely no problem with you taking parts into the shower with you to wash. I've never done it, and typically use the kitchen sink, but one thing I would never do is question anybodies showering preference. I don't see a problem with it, so shower on!!

Incidentally, one of my crazier friends will take a package of Oreo's in the tub with him and dunk the cookies in the bath water...I'll side with parts in the shower over Big Pauls dunkers!!! Geof

I see no problem with that Rani. Can't say I've washed car parts with me in the shower, but that's when I scrub the shower, I've also scrubbed stains in cloths while showering. I have washed parts in there without joining them. I guess you wouldn't have to worry about getting yourself wet while you're at it!
