Well, I paid the extra money to buy the AMD quarter skin for my 74 dart. Now I think that wasn't the right decision... The main reason I went with AMD was because they are the only company I could find that advertises the correct marker light location for a 72 - 76. Turns out that the location is not even close to where it should be and it's not the correct shape! At first I thought that maybe I just got a bad one, but I looked at the images of the part on the seller's website and they show the same hole shape and location as what I received. Has anyone else used an AMD quarter on a 72 - 76? If I use the existing holes, my marker light will have to go in upside down. I guess I will be filling the holes and cutting new ones :angryfir:

if they advertised as 72-76 then that is the first problem. 72-76 is not all the same.

The panel you have there is correct for 72 and 73.

74 -76 changed marker location because the tail panel changed ......74 and up had the body mounted tail lights.

so it looks like they stock the right panel for the earlier cars. I have heard of this before that these re-pop companies assume that they are "all the same" from 67-76 in some case. which is very ignorant for as many changes as these cars received from one year to the next.

You might have to make a thread and see if more 74+ dart builders here on the board had better luck finding correct later gen dart parts.

Looks like their stamp die was upside down. Measure back of the fender to the hole that is closest to the notch and see if that round hole is actually in the right location.

I think that's absolutely hilarious that they let something like that out the door.
I would be calling them and sending pictures.

I don't want to step on your toes or make you mad I just went through replacing a quarter patch on a 66 valiant on the drivers side. I wouldn't replace all of it just cut out and replace what is needed. Will save you a lot of time from warping and shrinking its a large panel with very little support. Just a little advice from experience

ok wow ....I didn't even notice at first that the marker hole is upside down on the new panel.

I am still pretty sure the marker location changed for 74 and up.

This is a factory quarter panel on a 72 swinger, I would bet your 74 is different. However that AMD panel is unacceptable either way

This makes sense. Here is what I bought
[ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/72-76-Dart-Rear-Quarter-Panel-Skin-RH-Right-Hand-AMD-New-/390927321013?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5b051587b5"]72 73 Dart Rear Quarter Panel Patch Skin RH AMD | eBay[/ame]

If I go to the AMD website, they don't list anything for a 74.
It was the Ebay seller that listed it as a 72-76 not AMD

The marker hole even looks uneven compared to the body line.... I would not be happy!
I think its supposed to be like that .....take a look at the factory one ^^ but the new panel is still upside down either way ...so yes I wouldn't be happy either

Unfortunately the existing panel is very wavy. It looks like someone rubbed the entire side of the car from the beginning of the door almost all the way to the rear bumper.

Yep yer right, my bad. I dont even see one listed on AMD website for 74. But I do for 72-3

If you would have called AMD before your purchase, they would have told you right up front that the marker light location is different for the 74-76 cars. Sounds like the seller is the one that misinformed you, not AMD.

Wow.. it looks just like the panel they advertised in the EBAY ad. Even though it is not like the one on your car they did give an accurate picture of what it was and what you received is the same.

Send that **** back. Takes enough time to do anyway, why mess around with a bad piece?

Most likely that panel ISNT even made by AMD...... would have been a lot smarter to buy through a reputable dealer, or even AMD directly... Your shipping it back could be more than the value of the part.....

ebay strikes again...

i notice that seller also plasters the authentic mopar restoration logo around on his stuff too. he's very good with photo editing, i'll give him that.

Maybe the dealer got a deal on some blems... Sounds more like the vendor's the issue here. I've had a couple AMD panels where things were off slightly, but that's expected for a non-NOS part and easy to overcome. Once fitted they look great.

A buddy of mine bought some panels from the same e-bay seller. They came in AMD boxes but fitment wasn't the greatest and they were wavy. I suspect what Moper said about this guy possibly buying blems to resell is true

Just noticed you paid nearly double for this quarter off of E-bay than what AMD sells it for. Didn't you do any homework? Paying nearly $500 for a 74 Dart 1/4 panel is unbelievable IMO!

Let me just say this again
