An acquaintance who is very familiar with small blocks (mid tens 68 dart street car), built a much more track oriented 6.1 for his race 68 dart.
Good for high 5s eighth.

Before I got kicked off face book. There was a red 87 dakota with a pretty much stock early 5.7 hemi with twin turbos. The second time around I think he made over 900 HP before it broke a rod..

Sounds like a guy I know and is local to me:

Are these engines supercharged? Might as well. Dependable 1000 horsepower.
That one isn't. 6.1, good heads, and the tall mf-er intake with a dominator on it.
Out local hellcat (of whatever varient) guys run 5s too, at about 1500 more pounds than that dart. Fastest of our three regulars run 5.30s, slowest runs 5.70s.
The Dart runs n/a 10.5, but isnt competitive. (It is a VERY competitive bracket combo, however!). A good friend of his is 2023 champ with a big inch W8 combo.

Didn’t know you knew him. I talked to him a while back, and we had a 45 minute conversation just on his intake manifold and what it took to make it work. Very sharp dude.

I switched over to gen3 hemi this spring.
I have 2 440s sitting in my garage that I abandoned.
Really happy with the performance but I need to get it more consistent

Not sure I am understanding you, but you said you had to run 7/8 spacers on top of the mounts to get the headers to clear?
I'll look and see if I got some pics of the underneath at the collectors to upload for you. Unfortunately, he's moved just far enough away to where I don't get to see him that often anymore. But when we did that, we shimmed the cab and bed up off the frame nearly an inch with aluminum discs we drilled through to make header clearance. Sort of a short body lift in order to get everything to play together.
