So we just put back in the tranny on a '74 dodge dart, 318 and torqueflite 904. Now we have 2 mystery nut n bolts. We thought it was from the kickdown but it was all together with no extra holes. Unforutnaely didnt take any pics before removal, so now im stuck trying to find where they go. Below is one of the bolts, the other one is the same diameter and pitch, same square nut, but about half an inch longer

Ik this is stupid but any help is appreciated, thanks yall

It looks like a ground wire bolt & nut, maybe for headlight wiring harness. Those square nuts are mostly used in caged in applications, sometimes lower steering column plates & radiator supports for grounding wires or mounting horns & such. Also, the nuts are sometimes tack welded in place from the factory.

Those look like pinch bolts for the kickdown and shifter linkage.

I'm thinking for a bracket, linkage? Square nuts are sometimes used so when in place they are "held" so they don't turn
**TREED!!^^**

It is in the vertical linkage that connects from the steering column arm.

Those go right in the very center of the trans, geographically. The quality of the build depends on their positioning within the forward direct sun ring.

If you look closely, none of those transmission linkage bolts are toothed washer type. I don't think they are linkage bolts.

well the one in the pic i posted is the shorter one and i think the longer one had a normal washer. guess ill find out in about n hour lol

I hope you can see it, but that vertical rod going down has the bolt and nut at the bottom.

Thanks yall, forgot to reply back on here yesterday but i got them in place. Should i put a dab of locktite on em or is it fine just finger tight?

on the bottom of the kickdown, kinda hard to see from this pic cuz its a tight space and i couldnt really get a better angle

its running anyway (smoke is from tranny fluid that dripped onto exhaust manifold)

sooo should i put some treadlock on the nuts or will it stay on magically? and yes i was planning to adjust the top one so the square aligned we were just making sure it ran
