I purchased a kit for my 73 Duster and have questions about getting a shift linkage from the 4L60E to the floor in the stock shifter location. How did you do it? What kind of custom linkage did you make or find to make it work?
My car has been modified and has a gen III 6.4 hemi and I had a tremac tkx 5 speed in it. Any help would be appreciated.

Whoa!! Nice car!!

I did purchase a Lokar floor mount shifter for the 4L60E with a rod connection to the trans. The straight rod will not connect to the trans and I’m not sure I can bend it in such a way that it will since it has to go through the small space between the trans mount and the tail shaft area. Was hoping someone else has done this and could share their solution.

Sweet car! And you are (kind of) local. Cool.

Curious why you are dumping the TKX. Not judging, just curious.

Mopar Muscle did an install of one of those back when it was still Keisler. It was in a B-Body, but maybe it would help?

They used a cable to shift the trans.

I guess Keisler supplied a new detent plate for the slap stick shifter, too.

Have you reached out to SST?

Looks like @Seandavid55 was working on a 4L60E swap a couple of years ago. Not sure if he finished or is still around.

DionR Thank you for the info. I will see what I can come up with with these leads and see if it will help me out. To answer your question the TKX I did purchase back when it was keislers, it just took me 12 years to get the car up and running. The manual works great in the car… but at my advanced age and slowness with the stick I know I can have more fun with the automatic so that’s why I’m switching back. Since the car is done I didn’t want to tear it apart again to rebuild the tunnel so this seemed to be a good solution.

Ah, makes sense.

For what it's worth, I am a pretty hard core manual trans guy, but there are times I wonder if I shouldn't have gone auto.

If you bought your trans from Keisler, it is probably a TKO. The TKX wasn't released until a couple of years ago. Doesn't mean much, just so you know.

So when bought it from Keisler, did they modify the trans to make it fit so you didn't have to cut the crossmember? Because the A41 will probably require the front of the crossmember to be removed so it might still require some reworking.

Sweet build, BTW.

Thanks for straightening me out on the TKO… TKX, yes your correct mine is the TKO 600 version with .68 od. It was modified from Kreisler, but I still had to enlarge the hump and trim the crossmember back an inch and a 1/4 to get it in. That being done I still had to trim the crossmember at the inner mount holes and pinch weld at the bottom of the firewall to squeeze in the 4L60E. It was just minor grinding and tack welding…. So it wasn’t horribly difficult.
I have called Silver Sports twice asking about the issue and nothing was said either time about them working on a solution.

Thanks for the compliment on the car. I purchased the car new in 1973….

I am sure you will figure it out. Sorry SST doesn't have a solution.

Very cool that you have had the car since new. I bet it has some history.

I am currently working a G3 swap into a '73 Duster as well. But mine will roll with the current "patinaed" look as I don't have the time or skills to make it pretty at this stage.

Here are a couple of pictures of the modification areas after I completed the work and there is now clearance for the 4L60E to fit.
