I was hired in 2014 to conducted testing of several semi custom 1911s. All were as close as possible in layout and finish. NH, Wilson, Brown, Baer, etc. all were torn down and each part photoed and datum measured etc.
Testing criteria established. I built one with selected parts to throw in the mix. Also a new factory Kimber was used but I went through it and tweaked a few things.
Each was put through the 8k test. Granted, samples of one from each company. All but the Brown, the Kimber and mine had to be sent back to maker at least once to complete the test.
it was at first exciting to have a huge pallet of 45 delivered to my house. But there was a deadline and I ended up with blown out elbows, tendinitis. One guy can not shoot 64k of 45 in 6 weeks and take all the pictures of stoppages do Ransom Rest testing and document it all. Had to get some co workers to help.
