Are cats narcissists?

This was Wiley , and she was !
She made to 17 years outside then disappeared.
I miss her !
So all my cats but one were wild.
Wiley came from a wild mother but was born under my porch.
It was cold out and I let the mother with her kittens inside.
Wiley never would let you touch her for like the first 5 years.
She would follow and want to be close just no touchy !
So the first time she ever was affectionate with me she was about 2 years old.
I took her to get fixed. She was riding next to me in a cat carrier. She cried and cried .
I felt bad. The cage is right next to me she reaches her little paw through and places it on my hand. Oh my I get a little emotional thinking about it.
I rubbed her little paw and talked to her and she quit crying.
One day years later her and I were walking on my property and I stopped to tie my shoe.
She came up and rubbed my hand then I pet her. She was always cautious but after that over the years she became more friendly.
Her and all cats related to her were little head butters.
When Yoda was a kitten I watched her teaching him to hunt.
She was an incredible hunter even got a humming bird in her later years.
She was a gem !
Had her longer then any other.

And hundreds of mosquitos are inadvertently killed simultaneously as thousands of foreheads are slapped........
 
Like a person, a cat has a unique "personality", but they are not a person, so I use the term "felinality" (Webster's, are you listening?)

We have everything from "I want you to pick me up and I will flip over in your arms" to "I told you not to touch me again".

Most are somewhere in between.
 
We took in a young feral cat, Ms Kitty had her fixed and she became an indoor cat by night and outdoor cat by day. She kept the critters away for the most part, even the neighbors dogs. Had her 17yrs and never clawed furniture or coughed up fur balls. Don’t think I could ever find another like that
 
Try clear packing tape to discourage clawing the furniture.
 
We have had moggies before and yes they are narcissists but then we got 2 Devon Rex pure breds. They take Narcissism to a whole new level.
 
Hate cats :mad:.. if you had a women/man that treated you like a cat, you'd leave her/him at the bus station. My brother (2 cats ) says anyone who hates cats must have been a rat in another life. I tell him I was probably just someone who doesn't take any bullshit from a cat. Now DOGS :), well it doesn't get any better. :):)
 
I actually was thinking this morning as I was contemplating getting out of bed.
My cat came in jumped up and snuggled up next to me and the sound of a cats pur is so comforting for me. ( I'm sure he just wanted food )
 
If you are at peace with yourself, it's easier to understand cats.
You must accept the cat for who it is, and compromises are often necessary to have an amiable relationship.
If you are unable to do that, you also likely have problems dealing with people.
Personally, I prefer the no BS, tell it like it is aspect of most cat's "personalities" to those I find in most humans.

It's also scientifically proven that men who get along with cats also do better getting along with women.

Cats (and other animals) are often food motivated.
However, cats are quite capable of being loving and loyal companions.
Sometimes all they want is to sit with or near you.

I'm the exact opposite
Dogs have a slave mentality, no character
You can mistreat a dog all day and toss it some scraps and it will think your his best friend
But a cat, they have dignity, self respect
 
Oh this is funny !.
I would say I disagree.
I believe animals like humas although similarities exist, each one is one of a kind .
There are some dogs you mistreat and they will teach you lesson at some point.

That is what I want ..bent to my will.. I have a wife and daughters, I don't need an animal giving me bullshit also. Me thinks your mistaking dignity and self respect for, I don't give a **** about you.. :):)
 
With all due respect, I believe you just verified what I posted earlier.

Here's another way to look at is...having dogs is like having babies

Having cats is like having teenagers
