And mounted the adapter. I used a thin o-ring to form a seal between the adapter and the filler end surface (a bit of silicone should also do the job). (Photo 7)

I marked and drilled starter holes in the adapter and used self tapping screws to mount the cap. (Photo 8 )

And woola my 65 Cuda now has a “flip top” filler cap (Photo 9)

Hi guys, I bought one of these from Donny about a year ago and it was a breeze to install. I used a repro 69 charger cap. Cost about 90 bucks at the time. I used a thin cork gasket behind it for sealing and I wanted to be sure I had some gap at the quarter.
Just thought I'd post a couple pics for ya.
It's very cool for sure and I love the look and ease of use.

Wow what a few weeks... I owe an apology to you all here at FABO. As you can see I haven't been on in a good while.

I currently have several of these in hand and unsold! Ill be PMing you that have asked in just a little bit.

Thanks for the install pictures guys!!!!

I recently sent one of the adapters to a friend in Utah, he owns a 75 Duster and made me aware of the piece shown in the above pictures. I was never aware the part of the filler neck on the late model Dusters,etc... had this removable piece. It threw him and I for a loop. He did basically what has been pictured above as well.
I was very surprised that nobody ever brought it to my attention.

Anyhow.. Thanks for all the positive comments, and pictures of your awesome cars with the caps installed!

As for my PM's, I let my "gold membership" lapse and I had too many already there. Ill be "re-upping" my membership and I have cleared a lot of old PMs too.

Feel free to contact if needed.

THANKS FABO!!!!!!

It's cool I just wasn't sure when you would be back on so I bought the stuff from home depot. Ended up costing about the same lol and I had to shape it all my self.

DarTT: No sorry. I have been incredibly busy as of late.

03JeepJeep: A cap from either the Charger (1967-1970) or Barracuda (1967-1969
will work.
Note: There are two different hole patterns, however both will work.
Note: The caps with "FUEL" on them will mount exactly the same.

There was one on the E-bodies also that said fuel. The E-body one is a raised cover with outer screws and not self sealing it wont work with this adapter. Just thought I would put that out there.

its all good!!! whenever you get a chance

FYI...The "E" body ones also open the opposite direction (mounted to passenger side quarter panel), so if you didn't get the cap latched it would be forced open and possibly ripped off.

Hey guys just putting this in here cause I'm curious if anybody else had had this happen to them yet. I already contacted 4mulaSvaliant so I'll also be awaiting his answer as well. So I went to install my flip top cap adapter on my 68 Valiant Signant today. I put it all together got my flip top on there and it sits a ways off the body. I realize there has to be a gap in order to allow for the hinge to open and not scrape but mine just looks outright silly. Here's a couple pictures:

What does an a-body (like 68 cuda) one look like from the top mounted? So does it stick out less than that?
