I am getting tired of shoveling snow. I just got done with the drive way, and the I raked off the roof of the house. Its getting old, and so am I. The dam snow blower wont go back up the hill when it gets to the bottom, cause its so steep of an angle, so I don't use it, I even have chains on it. To make it worse our driveway faces north, so we don't get the sun to help with the melting. So after I get done shoveling, I put salt down, other wise its like a ski hill, LOL.
I hate the bottom half of the drive way. Can't change it either. Well that's my rant for the day. I going to sit down, and have a nice cold beer. We have snow in the forecast for the next 4 days.

We are supposed to get an ice storm here tonight.
Yay, going to be fun to go to work tomorrow morning, if I can get the door of the jeep open.

My wife is in real estate. Bring some $$$$$$$ down here to SE Tx, you will not get cold...... OK so maybe little hot and humid in the summer.. OK so it is 70 today and worked up a slight sweat tuning the cars while ago. Bring a good generator so if the h-canes come thru. Have your boat ready if you buy something in a flood plain!!!!

I have a good friend who has been begging me to move to TX for years, it is just too darn hot in the summer.
Easier to put layers on for the cold.

Dave, i feel for you man.
It has been a cold winter here, but i am lucky enough to have a plow truck.
Not much snow this year. Knock on wood.
Not looking forward to the days when i have to pay someone to remove snow off my roof.
And cut my grass.
Would be ok if i had grandkids to do it, but my two kids dont seem interested in starting families.

Well...... if I was younger.......My wife, and I would move some where warmer. At my age it isn't worth it. I have so much car parts, and 4 cars, and all my tools, it would be a night mare to move, and we have all kinds of other stuff/junk also.
Texas always did intrigue me tho.
Sireland.... I think you have a lot of snow coming your way this weekend.
Tooljunkie.... this has been a cold winter so far. Lots of 0*f, and below and, not enough above 32*f. Now we are in a northern snow pattern for a while. At least the sun is getting higher, and we at swapping dark hours for daytime.
I know what you mean about grand kids, My boys don't seem to want any either. We don't have any yet.

Dave

If you like where you are and don't want to move South because of the summertime heat, and why don't you get somebody else to shovel or plow your driveway? Makes sense to me.

Go where there is no snow! You have earned it and deserve warm fair weather.

I can get within inches of all my doors with my truck plow, to keep shovelling to a minimum.
So in that respect im ok.
At 53,my wife panics when i go on the roof of any building, but im careful.
Usually to clean the gutters. Now i have a good leaf blower, makes that so much easier.

This should be more of a bragging right in my eyes? I hope I'm 75 years old and shoveling my roof and my driveway! I'm 51 now if I can do what I can do now at 75? YES !!!!!
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

we moved last winter, and our new house has a much larger driveway then the old one did
i told the wife, there is no way im going to be using that old snowthrower to clean this driveway
so i went out and bought me a plowtruck

only miscalculation in my plan...i bought a ford so guess what i used to clean my driveway this morning?
sure enough my trust ole snowthrower

I'm not 75, but I have had the unique situation to have to keep the driveway and ramp clean at all times to allow Nella to get in and out of the house and property! My only caregiver available for Nella is my mom, who is 75 and can't shovel snow, so when it snowed while Nella was at school, I would have to come home and shovel a path from the bus into the house, most times in the morning and afternoon! I plow the drive now with a beat up old Ramcharger, which makes it easier, but even an inch is hard for Nella to get around in, so it has to be done much more often that most would do! Is ther talk of moving? Yea, to my mom-in-laws house, which has an even bigger driveway!! Yay for snow!! NOT!!

I think more snowmobiles are needed! We need to make lemonade out of these lemons!

Yep, sucks. I spent yesterday morning clearing 2 properties. It snowed about a inch last night. I need to do it all over again. Snow is in the forecast for tonight and the next two nights. I might just shovel a path and clean it all up when it quits on Saturday.

I went to visit my 73 year old father in La a few weeks ago and he's never been on his roof in the 16 years he's lived there because there's no reason to. Beautiful 75 to 85 degree weather every day nice and sunny. But guess what? He's absolutely out of breath just going from his seat to the bathroom and back.
I know the stuff I do right now at 51 makes me tired and I feel I'm too old for it sometimes but I know it's what keeps me going.
Edit, now I have to get outside and get those wheel bearings out!

Well Toolman we get your snow/rain just after you, so I gotta go out again today some time. Were supposed to get a big dumping this weekend.
By the way guys I don't go "up on the roof", I have a big long rake type shovel that I scrape the snow off the lower foot, or two all around the roof.
We also had them leaf guards installed on all the rain gutters, so I don't have to clean the gutters out, in the fall.

Can't wait for spring, as I've been busy at Rock Auto with parts for the 66 B-Cuda I aquired last year.

Dave

When I was a kid I use to help out the old folks but now I'm old.Thumbs up you at your age still getting out there!

I hate shoveling snow as well. I also have a large driveway and it faces the wrong way so I get the morning sun which starts to melt the snow or ice then it refreezes in the afternoon shade and is impossible to remove by the time we get home from work. Ive been here for almost 35 years now and after the first 5 years I bought a tractor with a snowblower. I am on my 447"th tractor as I have always looked for one that would be easier. The last 10 years I have had cabs on the tractors. I keep it inside the garage so when it snows I open the garage door and start snow removal. I dont have to pick up a shovel and I like it that way. I now have a JD 455 with a 47" blower and a heated cab. It dont get much better than a setup like this.
I have never had to get up on the roof to remove snow. Hoping that never happens. It was close last year as we had a 30" snow. Now sure what I would do if that was needed. Me and heights are not the best of friends!

Agree w/ the guys above, if ur still doing that a t 75, u ought to be bragging ! Don`t overdo it tho. I`m 71 and moderate myself when splitting wood, and push mowing, especially till I get used to mowing in the summer, after staying in all winter.

Yup,not getting any younger. Upgraded plow truck from an 85 to a 2ooo model. The odd thing is I haven't had to use it yet this season....Yet

i got to use my buddys plow truck the other day, and though i liked the added options of his plow (mins only goes up, down, left and right) i must say, i missed the turning radius of the bronco
