Aussie VC 67 Dodge ute

it's a 1967, it's getting a 318, mildly worked inc. alloy heads & backed with a turbo 700 O/D trans....many body reinforcements to stiffen the frame, will make a nice cruiser!

all kept, starting to out grow my storage shed with all the moulds, not only this car but the wifes as well!!

it started life as a full GTS optioned HZ Premier...removed all the Premier features and enhanced the GTS features...motors a VT HSV roller cam 5lt with turbo 700

It’s been a while since I updated, didn’t want to post until I had succeeded in my project. It is by far the most complicated thing I've ever undertaken! Worse than the bonnet I made a while ago! No references to anything like this to be found. Made it up as I went along. I didn't count the hours on this one but over 10 months it’s taken to do this I would have spent at least 350 hours, quite possibly more!! Here’s some of the work that went into it.

Looks great. I bet you could make more and sell them. At least to recoup some of your time and effort.

some more progress on the dash. Starting on the demister system. Making a full width demister with side glass vents that work at the same time. Vent is 3mm alloy I had cut on a water cutter.

Bloody fantastic work yet again, at least you are possibly getting some time on it with the lockdowns
Mine has been finished again as 2 years ago a week before rego my power steer box turned into a fountain, now I have to wait for lockdown to finish to get it rego checked again as my usual guy is playing it safe

I was thinking about your ute the other day. How's it been going other than the current problem? Getting in plenty of miles?

Yep was getting there as was using it to do a regular trip down the freeway to see a specialist each month, and driving as much as possible, luckily the steering box leak happened during a short trip to local Autoparts store and was about 500 meters from home when noticed smell and cloud, of oil smoke

You have a crazy imagination bud! I could never think half of that up much less have the skills to make it happen! Great job.

I think it's time for people to voice an opinion! I don’t normally name my cars, but as I’m trying to build what could have been a prototype, I want to name it. Not a cute nickname type name, but a branding type name. The idea behind this build is for it to look like Chrysler Australia’s first “Sport pak ute”. We had a few cars in this vein, the “Pacer” as a 4 door or 2 door. We had our own “Charger”, then there was the “Drifter” as a ute or panel van. Even though I'd like to use "Pacer" as a name I think reusing an existing name people will say it’s not a “whatever”, it’s a Dodge! I’m a little stumped as to what to call it so I’m asking for suggestions. Another member here noted the Barracuda lines of the ute, maybe something in line with that! Post away with your ideas please!

Perhaps a bit too cutesy, but how about "Barrac-Ute-A", pronounced 'Barracyutea.
