Aussie VC 67 Dodge ute

Woah!!! Now that's more poppin. Check out some of the copper metallic looking oranges they have in the states. Pretty colors. I am looking at buying either a new ford maverick mini 4 door ute, or a new ford bronco. Looking at both those oranges. Whatcha thinking on the interior? A saddle tan and burlwood trim?
 
the first image is a late 70's Aussie Chrysler trim, it will be colours along this line, hence the colour I used for the dash top. It will be the console and door top colour as well, carpets are to be a similar mid brown. I have several hides of Italian leather for the tan parts, with a matching fabric for the headliner and another matching fabric for the speaker grills.

Part 1.....What was going to be just a mock up of the console, turned into a project!! Overall console size & shifter position sorted, carried on to positioning the drink holder. Which then led to it being (almost) fully constructed. Just the ducting for the A/C to cool the drinks to go. That will happen after the A/C is mounted.

Great to hear from you Marty, yea know what you mean about inactive forum, real shame because it use to great great. Avenger doing a great job but no support from members.

Will post some more photos of Safari build. Nephews and I still on holiday so making great progress.

Another job off the list. These 63-67 Mopars often have rust issues in the plenum. Surprisingly, a result of no paint in there from the factory other than what comes through the exterior vent! Only way to repair is remove the outer plenum cover and replace what's needed. As I'm fitting air con. I didn't need the openings for the floor vents. So I replaced with solid sections so I could make mounts for the fuse/relays blocks on the passengers side & all the electronics on the drivers side. Pleased to get back to some steel work, forgot how easy it can be compared to fibreglass fabrication!

With fitting Vintage Air gen2 it has to be mounted to the left of centre because of the steering column and the internal wiper mechanism. This means both foot well vents are on the passengers side, so I made a fibreglass duct to retain a drivers vent. I was going to make a duct to take the cold air and run through the drinks holder. But I’m currently looking at using Peltier units (an electronic unit that once voltage is applied, one side gets hot & the other cold) I’ll update that later!

The plenum is getting closer to being complete. Repairs all done, painted ready to be welded back on. New outer sections made for the A pillars and replacement inner's as the originals are patched and replacement units will look better. But that's for another post!

Looks great Marty Is your 67 ute from the cowl forward the same as our U.S. spec 64-66 models width wise? I sure hope the slant sux thats in there will be going away.
 
our Valliant's and the Dodge ute versions are very close to US models in right hand versions. 318/turbo 700 is replacing the slantie, could, maybe should have gone turbo EFI on the slantie or Ford Barra DOHC 6. But the 318 will do all I need!!
 
I'm curious (may have already been asked, if so, sorry)...
I've never come across an Australian Mopar in the US.
Could/were these imported into the US?

Can't see why they couldn't be imported, I've known of a few Aussie Mopars in the US. Our version of a Charger, there's even an AP6 ute (1965-66) The main thing against it would be our silly high prices on classic cars here!!
