Found this 1968 Barracuda convertible about 8 years ago. It's a rust free, slant 6, automatic car with 75% original paint remaining. Since then, I've put 4 wheel disc brakes, sub-frame connectors, chassis stiffening kit, Koni shocks, front and rear sway bars, bigger torsion bars, stiffer rear springs, 4-point roll bar, new fabric top, big bolt pattern wheels, 8 3/4 rear end with 3.23 suregrip, a 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 Magnum with EFI, 727 with Transgo 2 shift kit and a slightly higher stall converter.

The ride is plush and compliant like a much larger car, yet it handles very predictably like a slot car. It's one of my favorite rides of all time.

This is a 69 Barracuda convertible I bought about 6 years ago. When I first looked at it, I intended it to be a parts car. The frame rails were extensively patched and it had quite a bit of body work. It was restorable, but only to a person with really good skills. I got the car home and cleaned it up. It looked pretty decent in appearance. It was a 318, auto, 7.25" rear, power top and power steering. Blue with a blue interior, bucket seats and console. It actually run fine, just needed a front end alignment. Then I looked at at the fender tag. The build date was 707 (July 7, 1969). I registered the car with Galen. Does anyone know of any 69 Barracuda convertible with a later build date. BTW, I sold the car the same year at the Mopar Nationals in Columbus.

This is a poor picture, but it is all I have of it.

Sat for over 10 years in the previous owners garage. The more I look at it NOW, the more I see challenges, one thing after another.
But it's mine ...we'll get there! Soon I hope

This is my convertible when it was about two weeks old. I bought it from the original owner and we are still buddies. Its a 1969 340 4spd console shift R6 red with white top interior and stripe. manual steering manual drum brakes, even manual windshield washer squirters. I don't have the build sheet or the fender tag, but I'm pretty sure it's not a formula s.

The day I brought it home.View attachment Pictures 001.jpgIt'll be 10 years this summer since I bought this '68 383-Formula S 4 speed. I plan on having it pretty much all done and on the road in the spring. It had a 318 and a column shifted automatic tranny in it when I bought it. Long story short, the car was robbed of the big block, 4 speed and the 8.75 rear end waay back in 1974 according to the guy I bought it from. It was stored inside since he bought the car and was his wifes car. The guy I bought it from sold it because he was quite old and getting rid of a lot of stuff he had including several old Mopars. I'm trying to restore it back to factory original and it has been quite a project. I can't wait to drive it in the spring!!View attachment 057.jpg

there was a repair shop behind my old house and this car was there one day so I had to go check it out

was a nice looking car, good 20' car

it was for sale at the time but that was years ago

if I didn't have so many cars at the time might have bought it

one I did buy, guess I didn't take any of the top of it

guy I knew told me about his bosses cuda convertible so had to go look at it

the car looked great, had good tires on rally wheels, restored interior and decent paint

V8, auto on floor PS but it had issues

The guy wanted $4,000 for it and when I seen it thought not a bad car for the money, UNTIL I looked a little closer. They put the rear 1/4s on top of the old ones and then did even worse job fixing the frame rails

I did buy it knowing all the problems. Put it on my lift and when I got ready to turn into the drive at the barn had no brakes, so when I took it back to him put it on my trailer, he was surprised when I got back to his house hauling the car.

here is the bottom of it

Thought dad could drive it to the cruise in and putter around in it in the summer. Paid $2,000 for it and had to put new master cylinder on it and new battery. But after fixing the brakes and followed dad home and seen it going down the road sideways it had to go.

Drove it to the cruise in that night at Sams Club. Had Dad go to Walmart and get a for sale sign and I went into Sams and bought the battery. Put $3,500 on it and within an 1 1/2 sold it for $3,200

It probably was worth more than that just in parts

If anyone bought a red 67 barracuda with black top and interior and really bad frame that was mine. for a few weeks.

date stamp shows I had it in 2002

was told this sat in a junk yard for awhile and then they hung the 1/4s and painted it. Do not understand why they spent the money doing the interior as nice as it was and then didn't fix the frame rails any better

The finished product

Hey Moon
Did you buy that 67 at the mopar nats like back in 2005 or around that time frame? I have pictures of that car sitting on a trailer at the mopar nats it was just a shell and had a for sale sign on it and was just painted.

What are going to be asking for those cars? Not that I have room for anymore cars but sure would be interested to hear what you would be selling them for

69 convertible waiting to head to the body shop

My 69 I bought in January 2016. Finally in the shop on the lift. Getting new leaf springs, all new brake system, adjust the valves for the Slanty 6, pertronix electronic ignition, pressure washed under the bonnet to prep the motor for new paint. Floors are rock solid. Stripes are for a 68. I might pull them off.

Man that is sweet looking love the blue
Thank you. She's still up on the rack. Ordered new leaf springs, new brake drums, new brake lines, new exhaust from Accurate Exhaust out of Oregon, going with electronic Ignition, the valves really needed adjusted.

Here are some pics of the '69 Barracuda Convertible I just got down with. This car was once owned by Marisa Tomei.
