Time is upon me to do a stroked RB for my 72 Duster. Will be primarily street driven but will see the track for fun. I had planned to use the Mancini or 440 source 6qt reproduction A body pan. The engine builder likes the external single line Milodon. Will that fit and clear the steering? I expect to do the 1/2 pickup and max rpm will be 6500 and more likely 6200-6300. Hope to make peak power @ 6000 rpm plus or minus 200 rpm.

Have no problems doing either just want it to fit the first time.

Hopefully the pan is well baffled, at 6500 rpm I can imagine the oil will be out of the sump climbing up the rear of the crankshaft without baffles.
 
Yes the reproduction 6qt A body pans have baffles for the sump. Windage tray or crank scraper is another debate entirely. :realcrazy: For a separate thread.

I would love to see a 10 sec slip once in my life lol. 3.55 gears are here to stay as it is a street car.

It is a prepare as best as I can but be happy with the outcome scenario. Same with whatever HP it makes. Not getting hung up on numbers or et. Just want it to be fast AND fun.
 
I am pondering the same pan. The hemi 6 quart that fits a body correct? Hangs a little lower than the 187 pan. 440 source advertises theirs as a thicker pan. Not sure if Mancini's is that way. The thicker pan may be a bonus. I also have the half inch pickup.
 
There are countless 10 second big block cars running without external oiling. I don't think there's really a "need" for that, but if that's what you think, it won't hurt anything.
 
Will that pan and pickup clear the +1/2" stroke crank?? You may need an external pickup with thet 4.25". That is alot of stroke for a streetcar.

I used a factory style windage tray and an old Moroso pan on my 512 with no clearance issues. 7 qrts + 1 in filter. Upper 10's is double with 3.55 gears and a stroker BB. My sbc with 3.42 gears and 2500 convertor has run 10.86 @ 125.6. sbc stroker. 3570 with driver.

Listen to your engine builder. I've posted this before but you can NOT get the oil pump pickup too big, especially when the pump is up front.

Even a 1/2 inch pickup is too small and you can't get it any bigger with the pickup in the pan.

Heck, just put it on, fire it up and run it up to 3500. It'll clearance itself. lol

At the level he's building, there's probably truth to that.
 
What is the actual capacity of the 893 pan. I have heard conflicting info.
The hemi pan (587) seems to clear in most cases with some people having to clearance?

I think it is only 5 qts. I was running a 402 pan, since I was too stupid when I got the car and pitched the original 893 pan and original air cleaner. That mistake only cost me $1,000.
