Hi everyone. What would be a good manual trans. for a 900 hp. 3400 lb car with some cost in mind? Thanks.

Probably a Liberty or Lenco. Drag race only I presume?

Is the old Doug Nash 5sp. a viable option anymore? I thought I read someone bought the rights and is still producing them... Liberty, maybe?
Don't forget the Borg T56 & TR6060

IDK about the Nash. I don’t think you can get them new but it is worth a check.
Your next two are OOTB 900HP capable?

I think you got me- the only specs I found in a quick search are the 645hp/600ft.lbs. in the '17 Viper. I thought they were higher...

How much torque, traction, and how grippy is the clutch? A 300ft/lbs T5 (for example) would last it just depends on the use, set up and traction.

It might hold more power. I just don’t know myself.

Drag race only. I would probably start with the calvert set up and maybe try some drag radials if they don't work out 14 x 32 slicks. Also eventually go to a 4 link. How much are we talking about for a Liberty set up? Used maybe.

Yes, Richmond bought Nash out some time ago. Their five speed is the updated Nash version.

Lenco, Liberty, or Jerico. Probably looking at $6-$8k for trans and slipper clutch and all the accoutrements. Being cool costs $$$$.

Ya I know. It's a *****. But someone (me ?) has got to do it.

The Lenco is damn long, especially if it’s a 5 speed (it should be a 5 speed) and it takes more power to run all those clutch packs.

The Jerico is only available with 4 gears AFAIK. Again, I can’t think of a reason to run 4 gears when you can use 5. 5 gears is quicker every time.

That leaves the Liberty and the G force. The Liberty is a dual cluster gear box, and the G force uses a single cluster with a support to keep the main shaft from moving.

Both can be had with 5 gears.

I have a buddy with a Doug Nash in a 9 second fox body mustang. He is parting out the car. The trans also has a vertigate shifter. Its up in Toronto

Probably the best and most cost effective transmission is a Turbo 400 with a manual valve body. You can build one probably for less than half the cost of anything being talked about here. CHEAP and STRONG.

900 hp...
Manual trans...
Drag racing...
Is a ridiculous conversation to have with a thrifty budget...
