Best suspension for new restoration??

Magnum force, like AJE, is cheap for a reason. It's thin walled, cheap metal and cheaply built. Look up the numerous complaints and failures with pictures that are around the web. I'd be really leery to run either of them on the street, let alone at speed
What exactly does AROUND THE WEB mean/ I googled it before I bought it and found one failure.
The back lower a arm bolts are too small, "the reason I built strut rods to support them.
J BARS ABOVE ALSO. I DO KEEP AN EYE ON IT THO----

Plenty. The two that immediately come to mind, one was an A arm breaking and the other was the K itself coming apart at a weld.

But with you saying there's a design flaw with the lower arm bolts, but you made your own and fixed it, that shouldn't have to be done with the money spent on such an item. That's still poor design and poor quality if a customer has to design and build something to FIX the brand new product.

I have built 5 hot rods, never built one that I didn`t have to massage aftermarket parts for, two hemi cars, 2 600 horse sbc`s, and this 68 fastback.
The money spent on "such an item", was $1900 shipped, slightly used (supposedly 9 runs ), was very tite and new..
Dam near cost that to rebuild a stock front 50 yr old suspension.
Came w/ disc brakes , everything but the brake lines, which I installed braided.
my car is pretty stiff and doesn`t flex much .
Like I said, I do keep an eye on it--------------
Lot of bad mouthing as usuall by people that cant fix anything ,never used a product, and just bolt stuff on. I didn`t say it was the best out there to start with------------

Is this directed at me?

who ever, if u haven`t used one, or had one fail why bother ??
simply an advisory to anyone to be mindful of it. Not all customers of such products are as diligent or as inventive as you.

a couple shots from around the web... pics speak for themselves. draw your own conclusions.

........
And this one was the biggest for me.

Parts sourcing. Only the Gerst at the time could tell me he used 100 percent American made parts from high quality race component suppliers. Meaning not only durability but availability should a part fail. Some of the others either did not know or used unknown eBay suppliers. Made me leery.

Hey Dukeboy....how ya been?.... and hows that Dart coming along?

Just curious....where do ya suppose the Mustang II rack and those spindles come from?

It's a going. I need to update my build thread at some point.
Slowly but surely, finishing up sheet metal replacement currently. How's things been with you?

which mustang II spindles and rack? I can only positively answer for the Gerst, they're both made by companies right here in the USA.

I'm having fun....as usual (John Milner / American Graffitti)
Lots of cool / unique builds going on....exciting to say the least. I am very lucky.

I always enjoy your build thread, you are a commited hot rodder.

other than limited production high dollar spindles (not the street rod special Mustang II) or Flaming River racks.....I have never seen Mustang II racks or spindles made in the USA.....all are distributed by USA companies / vendors, but not manufactured here. I caught the Helix boxes pictured in the (Gerst) silver Dart build.....I've bought hundreds of Helix spindles and the boxes are clearly marked...made in China...or maybe it is Taiwan, but definitely NOT here. If you still have yours in the box, take a look. I will wager 99% of your bolts / fasteners are not made here either. The control arm poly ends (likely from Speedway Motors)....not made in the USA.

Actually I do still have the box for the rack, I may still have the box for the spindles, I'll look. The control arms use Viking Hemi joints.

And thanks. It's been 5 years now since I started that, finally making some serious head way.
