I have run into three issues ordering wire harnesses for my 1965 Dodge Dart GT. I ordered the under dash, engine/ headlight, and tail light harnesses from Classic Industries.
1. I talked about this in another post. The tail light harnesses includes wiring for backup lights, but the other two do not. I was able to use and modify the wiring from my old harnesses.
2. The rear harness does not include the separate wiring for the trunk lid and it isn’t available. I am using my old trunk lid wiring.
3. Lastly and most frustrating is the connectors on the engine harness are incorrect and will not attach to the bulkhead on the under dash harness. Classic Industries can’t do anything about it. So I found some correct connectors online and can hopefully move the male wire ends to the new connectors. Frustrating!!!
Just wanted to point these issues out in case someone is looking to order harnesses for that time period.

Do those other places have the specific harnesses with all the correct Dodge connectors. That is what attracted me to Classic. Of course, look how that worked out.

The harnesses I bought from Classic were made by M&H

My old connectors and correct connectors

To the OP

Did the harness have the M&H tag on it?

I just completed engine and dash with an M&H harness and with the exception of the convertible courtesy light, everything connected and lined up correctly.

You're past that point I'd say, but having the wiring diagram and labeling everything before removal... Then doing a side by side layout... Labeling the new harness before going at it is essential.

Edit to add. This is on a 64 Valiant

Sorry, I know good ideas after the fact are no help.

Those connectors come apart. Can you clean them up and use the connector housings? Just remove the terminals and stick the new wires into the old housings?

M&H harnesses have always been right on the money - just like the factory (they used to make harnesses for Chrysler back in the day). They really know their stuff BUT they don't sell direct, you have to go through year one or Summit or classic, but those guys don't know **** about your car. Their listings only show a fraction of what M&H can provide. ALWAYS call M&H direct and talk to them about the part number and then order from the warehouse.

I think I am ok; just a little work to do. I have what I think are correct connectors coming and will have to move the wires. Hopefully that goes smoothly. And I did the whole marking wires deal though I must have missed a few. Luckily, there are not too many places to go in 1965. Lol

I looked at M & H catalog on their website. They don’t show much for 1965 and it says they don’t make dash harnesses. ???

classic does carry M&H harnesses. they probably sell a coupe different brands. not sure if the OP got one or not.. as far as evens goes, stay away from that stuff.. had one and it bad crimps all over the damn thing. at the time there were many complaints about the same thing all over the mopar boards.
