Black and yellow

Thanks

I had some swelling and a low grade fever but I shook it off pretty quick. I took Monday off work and took it easy at my parents request because they were worried the swelling or fever would get worse which it never did. The actual point of sting is still a little sore even now because they hit some soft tissue sites. I took 8 stings in all, luckily none on face.

That's a lot for a small person. I am glad you're ok.

^^^ I have Mopar buddy that got bite by some kind of spider parting out a car at home. He was air lifted to the hospital!!!!

Didn't James Dean get parted out in a Spider? I really hate all kinds of venomous creatures.

All my dumb joking aside, it's good to hear Rainy is doing well.

That saying can get you killed. Both the coral snake and the mountain king snake the black touches yellow. If the red touches yellow, you're in trouble. Daddy's sayin was "red touches yellow kill a fella"

Here's the mountain king snake. Compare it to the coral snake above. You'll notice the black and yellow touch on both snakes. Only the red and yellow touch on the coral snake.

Your right! I had forgotten how the saying was, I never really worried about it because we have none around here only rattle snakes, copper heads and water Moccasin's.

Yep...thought the same thing when I read that! The old Boy Scout handbook saying was "Red and yellow kills a fellow....red and black, friend of Jack."

Thanks for calling me a "small person" it's my pet peeve when people call me a " little person" I am NOT a midget. I am just a really short girl
The good part is the smaller girls are easy keepers, they don't eat as much, saves on the grocery bill...unless they are into cars, then they can get expensive!!! hahahahahhahahahhaa

Black widow or brown recluse ??
I use thick cardboard when getting under a car to work on it , have it standing up against a wall. I always shake and bounce it off the floor before using it, almost always have killed a brown recluse that came out of it . The water moccosin got me to watching a little closer too !

I like using ether on those nasty little flying assholes. Have dealt with a few nests over the years, first one was around 1999 in a tree in my front yard, never noticed it until my dog got nailed one evening, and me twice on the ankle immediately after. A huge yellow jacket nest, a little bigger than a basketball was tucked among the branches. Contacted an exterminator that I did a lot of business with and asked his advice. "Either pay me $200.00 to take care of it, or wait until late at night, around 2 or 3 AM, and spray the hell out of it with ether. It will damage some of the tree branches, but they should recover". Got 3 cans of starting fluid, had 6 or 7 beers, and covered as much of my skin as possible, then snuck up on the tree and blasted that sucker with 2 full cans. All was quiet after only a couple minutes, and the ones that had been out and about began to return to the nest, only to meet their end. Took it down the next evening and tossed it into the fire pit, enjoying the sizzling sound of them frying.
Had 2 good sized nests about 6 years ago in a shrub near the front door of our current house, wife decided she didn't like the way the plant was overtaking the sidewalk and wanted it out. She is very much a do it yourself type, so she started to cut it out with a hand saw and quickly got stung 5 or six times on both wrists. Well that only pissed her off, and once she had iced her hands down, we both went out, armed with a can of ether each, spraying full bore. Next day I went in with a chainsaw and found another damn nest, got stung twice, now I'm pissed and ready to get the gas can and some matches. Another round of ether and one more day wait before it was finally all gone. Now we hang wasp traps around the yard and watch as they attack and kill each other. Cheap entertainment!
