Great looking car. I rolled this one down the hill a couple of weeks ago....

Yours looks MUCH better. I love the blue.....

Maybe I missed it...what did you end up paying for the Duster?
I didn’t disclose what I paid. But I have nothing to hide they were asking 3k for it. I offered them $1500 they weren’t having it. So I came up to 2k they countered with $2200. So I said I’ll meet them in the middle at $2100. That’s what we settled on. They were happy and so was I. Good people. The thing is I already rented the trailer and made up my mind I was getting regardless of the price even if I was to pay the full 3k. Even though the floor boards are full of water inside I felt it was so complete it was worth it regardless. Even with the water in it there’s going to be rust but when I looked under the car the floor boards are not showing any rot. We shall see this weekend when I rip the carpet out.

Your duster is nice shape too.

Look at it this way, even if it needs floors, there's a great opportunity for the young ones to learn.

You got a good deal on a great car. Thank you for responding. This may help others in the future that don't know a fair price to offer.
In Georgia, you don't deal with roached out interiors like we get out here, right?

Yall should leave it a slant if it runs. Perfect first car. Easy to work on, parts are dirt cheap and it'll get good mileage with a good tune on it.
Rob that’s what I’m thinking keeping it stock. I’m certainly not blowing it apart like I did my barracuda. But we all say that it takes great discipline to keep things original. Especially when I have 4 engines needing a home. I’m starting on my low deck 500ci stroker collection of parts and have the Dana 60 already that I planned to use on my other 67 barracuda that’s a rusted out parts car at the moment, make it a drag car. But I never finish anything I must have ADHD or something. I just enjoy the hunt for parts and meeting Mopar people.

Well if yall get frisky and snatch the drive train out, I might know a guy who wants it. LOL

That’s a heck of deal!! I gave $2200 for my 72 nearly 11 years ago and it was missing the intake, transmission and some of the interior. It did have the twin scoops, sharktooth grill and an 8.75 though, so the way I saw it, those 3 parts alone were worth over $1500 alone (that was before they were reproducing the sharktooth). Oh yeah, I also drove 7 hours one way to get it.

Here’s how it looked the day I got it.

Oh yeah it’s got some good money parts.

You got a great deal. I got my 73 for $3200 during COVID and thought it was a steal.

I would have rather had a 71. Slant 6 probably coming out in 2025.

Chit man, I think the 73 is the best lookin one. I'll take it. LOL
LOL, I'll admit after I painted it, it really has become my favorite. The best is it drives great and now I am just making it more comfortable. The color is VW Transit yellow with Honda White Pearl midcoat. Looks awesome in the sun and eye catching....

Poke around in the duster today. Found the original order sheet from 71, a copy of original title and the dealer punch card. Found the registration from 2017, so it’s been parked est. 6 or 7 years in the woods collecting water. It has been in the family the entire time. The odometer shows 14,000 and change, who knows if that’s correct. This is really exciting, I hope when I pull the back seat i find the build sheet. Had this car been stored properly when they stopped driving it would be in near perfect shape. I pulled half the carpet out today, found some rust through only the drivers side. Passenger side is solid. The trunk has all the original pieces jack, tire iron, spare etc. in ok shape no rust through.

Was able to get the tires mounted today. They’re cheap tires and took some lead to balance them out. I wire wheeled the rims and rattle canned them black.

Princess Valiant mentioned comparing tire sizes earlier. I had 195’s on there and felt like they were pizza cutters.

Had a 215 on a spare, which had a lot of sidewall bulge.

Settled on the 205’s for the price. They have some bulge, but not terrible like the 215’s. I like a wider tire anyway. Also, they have plenty clearance on the front fenders.

Further inspection of the car I’m going to have to replace the gas tank and exhaust both are toast. The tank isn’t leaking, but there’s an enough scaling rust to warrant a new one and not deal with cleaning it and trying to save it.

You got tires. That qualifies for your very own build thread in the Member's Restorations section. (Besides, now I'm subscribed!)
