Depending on the build, I will advance most street type cams 4 degrees.....all you are doing is shifting the power band lower in the rpm range. So far I've never had a lazy engine doing that. There was one teen that was very lazy down low but a buddy installed the .480 lift cam using the dot method knowing I had a degree wheel etc. Dang thing was plain nothingness until it hit 2200 rpm and ran like a raped ape from there until 6200. It ran a 13.51 @102 with a 2.2 60'. Had to run slicks on it (72 Demon) to keep it from blowing the M/T ET Streets off going into 2nd gear but the car didn't have enough guts to do a burnout even in the water box.My buddy purposely puts the cam gear 1 tooth ahead of the crank gear on stock cams in 318s and 360s. They seem to run great with good power. Kim
