So I'm trying to hunt down the original builder of my engine to get the cam specs but in the meantime, I've uploaded a video of a 1k idle. Can any of you take a listen and see if you might recognize it. I know it's less than scientific but perhaps a couple of you may have a rough idea. Thanks!!

Sounds bigger than a stock cam. lol
Is the idle turned down ?
It seems less than 1k.

Here's a video showing the tach

It is going to be impossible to say what cam you have for sure without taking the thing apart. The same cam can sound totally different in different engines. Cu. in., Installed center line, C.R., exhaust, etc.

Ok so I did some digging through my notes. I came across a couple of numbers. The big one is 509. I know there were some books mentioning a MP 508 and 509 cam that were pretty nasty. The 508 is listed at 248.5* of duration @ .050" lift ground on a 108 LSA. Is it possible that's what I have? The guy I bought it from called it a 509 cam, but the 509 for the small block was a circle track cam from what I remember reading and pretty rare. From what I've read the 508 is a pretty nasty cam.

Sounds very similar to my sb,.30 over with a 4in stroke. I run the MP 508. No complants here.

It sounds pretty stout, especially at that rpm. It may very well be a .508" purple, as i have been around several. I'm real curious to what your initial timing is? Anything 12* or under will make a lot of cams in that range sound big...

I had a 508 in the 360 in my 65 Valiant and it sounded pretty similar..

here is my mp purple 508 cam.

So Rusty back in the day in another post you talked about this cam with a fair amount of knowledge. You said that the vacuum is pretty bad with it. Could that cause an idle inconsistency with my vacuum advance dist? This car is so inconsistent with the idle. It will idle prefect, you rev it up and sometimes it will come back down and sometimes it won't. Could my vacuum or lack of be part of this?
