And since I was one of the members that helped drive the train off the tracks here's a good brain teaser!! My Dad passed this down to me as we used it thousands of times fixing motors. No not the vice grips, they are there to give the tool some scale.:

In a pinch you could hammer on the ear of the clutch to knock it loose but then you run the risk of breaking off one of the ears (pot metal). I worked on lawn mowers for money when I was a young teenager and my Dad had all the tools. Back then, in the 60s, we couldn't afford to break off an ear and pay for a new clutch for a customer's mower!!!I never knew there was a real tool for that!
It's always been something I jury rigged since I was a kid working on go-karts and mini-bikes.
