I don't let it bother me.. we paid $400 for the old girl in Sept. '06, and "major" repairs amount to a partial front-end rebuild (tie rods, drag link, balljoints, wheel bearings) 2 years ago and a head gasket job last March- she always starts, and has never broken down.
Although we did buy it with a "rebuilt" tranny, which has slipped since day one.

Seems like every one of the vehicles we've looked at need tranny rebuilds!:read2:
 
Chapter 13.

I wouldn't be looking at this but it may be in addition to a tow vehicle.
Unemployment running out and needed to invest in something to make money with.

We won't be looking at rides untill Thursday. The guy with the Dodge pick up in the last pic of Chapt. 13, promised he would hold till I got there on Thursday after ABB gets off work. So In turn of good Karma, I told him I wouldn't look at any more rides till we see his! LOL!!

After ABB get off work Thursday, her, me and FABO will be racing off to another ride in

CAR HUNT! FABOZENE8)

We have to be there before courthouse closes, the seller wants to use "THAT" notery for title transfer. By the looks of his truck, who cares! I'll meet him in a port o let to sign title if I have to!! LOL!!!:cheers:

This season it's time to start work and literly, in this, I could start work tomorrow!! The guy I'm buying from says his boss wants to hire me sense I'm buying their truck! COOL!!

Blue 91 dodge pick up
has no passing gear
Waits a few seconds before going completely into drive after backing out of drive.
Front pass rotor warped and possibly other front end issues on that side.
Ox pump belt removed, says it don't need it due to the dual exhaust??!!!

Left with ABB at noon. Got back just in time for holiday rush hour. (4:30)
BOF almost ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

Went yesterday to drive the car hauler and it did not start! He still hasn't called me back. Wonder how long it will take for him to realize bad deisel fuel from sitting sense last summer with out stabilizer. He'll have to drain the fuel tank & system, new fuel filter, etc...He'll call me bout NEXT WEEK!!

I think I'm over it now.

Going to concentrait on getting Fern done and sell her and BOF to get a nice tow rig.
Saw an old freighliner cabover with a cummins n11 in it!
Now that would tow some cars! There's a shorty semi that was a car hauler at the Mack dealer (Round Barn) It was once a car hauler but they scrapped the rack. Now it's a low slung semi tractor! It would totally be perfect for a 3 car trailer!!

Still waiting to hear about the dump truck. It has already started. He told me last night it was $3800 but I have a CL ad that was 15 days ago at $3600!??! What the heck's up with that????

He'll take 35 or I'm not getting it either!

I know the guy will look here so, fix the tranny and brakes and I'll give you $2800 and not a penny more. Good Luck with the sale.

I am sorry for the turn from A Body Car hunt to "Find whatever tow rig and future income as possible" thread. My life is such right now where everything I'm purchasing is from little IRA all I had to my name. We learned early on here it was not working due to me missing so many cars due to no ride or second driver. That's what made us take the ugly turn.

We went up yesterday finally to purchase the dump truck. Went on test ride, I value my life more than the owner does and would not make an offer on the death trap. Needs tie rod ends and other front end repairs. Ran Great, rode like Death Wish 2010!!! Wouldn't even make an offer and made mental note of the "FAKE" DOT inspection they just did at the garage!! Won't take anything there unless I want a death trap DOT APPROVED!! Oh Brother!!!!
The owner was nice though!!!!

Took ABB to see car hauler said I was nuits if I didn't get it! Runs now. Needs power steering hose. Ordered from NAPA will be here today at 8AM. Dirty White Boy is meeting me here at 10:30 and we are going up to install ourselves ($17.99) and test drive. If it runs out ok will be bringing home thismorning!!! NEW FABO CAR HAULER for the IN, KY, OH, IL, TN, NC areas!!!! WOOO Hooo!!! Better not count on it too much till we drive it!

Also an auction starting at 10Am today close by with a couple of dump trucks like what were looking for and a 99 Ford conversion van with only like 50K miles!! Lets see.....should I delay the car hauler to go to auction first buy dump truck the haul butt over to get car hauler...

ABB says don't let anything get in the way of the car hauler. Get it home first and if fate deems it so the dump will still be at the auction when I get there or it wasn't meant to be. Find another Dump truck! Already spotted a 1960 IH dump that looks really good and could be put in car shows. The guy wants 1800 for it!!!

I'll keep you guys posted and get some pics if we bring the car hauler home, were going to load a Dart on it to check deck and get pics for

Which Dart would FABO like to see loaded on it first? BOF, or 69? You guys let me know and I'll check later today b4 we load a car!

The idea here is I can scrap/part out cars, haul junk to scrap, and haul cars for us and FABO, and haul/transport peoples cars to dealers for repairs while the important people are at work making money and don't have time to take off to get their car to the shop!
Can make a pretty good amount if I can scrap 2 cars a week. More towing would equal less scrapping. This is the idea to make $ while still having open schedule to work on our cars! Hope this pans out then we can get back to finding sweet ABodies being neglected and parts cars too!:cheers:

Went up to put on power steering hose on the car hauler. Keep in mind this lying A$$ told me he had it running again yesterday...LIAR!!! We needed to start to move and put under cover due to storm comming in.

Picked up part at 8AM and had to wait till 11AM when the place opens. Keep in mind if we had access to car hauler we could have had it done by the time these yae hoos show up to open.

We worked for an hour during which time a biblical freezing storm blows up and I almost take off like Mary poppins! I was holding golf umbrella over DWB while he was working. I'm under sressed in just a tee shirt (Moreon) Froze my butt off. Got it all ready to go and would not start. Dead batteries and this guy is an interstate battery sales dealer!!! Too cheap to buy 2 Batts at cost!!

We left, I told him to call me when he got it running. He said he would call me later. He never did. MY $20.00 for part, $40.00 to mechanic who drove out there, he's into me for $60.00 CASH and I haven't even test drove yet!

Called a bit ago and he's already closed!! 11AM-5:30PM!!! Nice hours!!
Left a message, he either wants to sell or he don't. He has till Noon on Monday. After that he will be invoiced the $60.00 for work and parts already done!! Cheap Bastard needs to buy 2 batteries at cost from himself and is too cheap to do it!!!!:angry7:

The 2 Batts at advance in stock $85.00 each, I was sitting in the truck for a minute during the storm and the water was pouring in on me inside the cab!!!

I give up totally.

Taking till monday off.

Uh, unless I'm mistaken I was the guy on the phone when the 15 year old was buying the Dart in Sidney. I called at about that time and on that day, and he told me to hold on somebody was there looking at it and covered up the phone and talked to them for a minute and got back on the phone with me and said he thought he had it sold. I asked him if he would call me back if the deal fell through and he said he would, but of course never did. Now I know why. Hope I didn't screw up a deal for you. I just spent the last hour reading this thread, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Gotta hate people that lie about their cars for sale, makes you want to break a few commandments.

why not buy a turbo diesel auto school bus and mod it. I did that back in the day. they are cheap after their year out for school use is up..

I still never tire of the suprised looks on their faces when I pull up, go straight under their vehicle for a look. Then usually back up, stop, put in drive, 2 turns, a hard brake, and one, 1/8th mile stretch to open up and stop again. Now I rattle off everything they were hiding from me, all usually within 5 mins. 1 reverse, and 1 floor it! They usually have the "who, not ME" look about questionable mechanical enginering usually involved.

They just can never beleive I pin em on the stuff so fast! Good thing my Gradpa was always skinin' cars and mowers all the time here with me at my house while I was growing up. Not a pro, but know what I know!:cheers:


Anyway thanks for piping up about the call. I figured there were more members on that car later. I am still looking foward to the 15 year old who bought it showing up here on FABO!

I have been looking into that. There are 4 Blue Birds here locally that just came off routes. 2 of them are rear engine, not much good for car hauling but would make great RV! Will call Monday.
I'll try to stop up the junk yard and get some pics. There is a school bus conversion Dove tail car hauler! Love it! I'll get some pics early next week of it. I have to go by there when I deliver the invoice for the parts and labor on the car hauler!

The story will not end. Ever since I got home he has talked about his plans for car hunting. He told me this is not the end but just the beginning of Car Hunt. Now he wants to get me a small digital camera to take with me while I am traveling to take pics of cars I find. So the story will continue. Look for the next chapter coming soon.

Lot of junk out there where people are trying to get rich off of someone elses tax return funds!!

You see by this thread how many times I chased my tail around a tree for a tow vehicle!8)
