Carb for 340

-
Now we're getting somewhere

* 1970 Dart Swinger
> Shipping Weight ..... #3150 lbs.
> Curb Weight ........... #3329 lbs.

* 4-Speed Transmission
* 4.30 Gears

* 340 ........................... {Bored +.040 over}
* Compression Ratio ....... 10.0-1 {?}

* Crane Energizer #150052 {Summit Performance}
* Hydraulic Camshaft
* Lift ..................... .452"/.452"
* Duration ............... 272*/272*
* Duration @ .050" ... 216*/216"
* LSA ...................... 110*

Camshaft designed for Performance Range .... {2000 to 5000 RPM's}

* Edelbrock Torker II
* Square Bore Opening
* Carburetor Height ........ 5.72"
* Port Size Opening ........ 1.00" x 2.17"
* Performance Range ...... {2500 to 6500 RPM's}

For 'Street-Use', a 'square-bore' Carburetor would be most beneficial with
the 'Edelbrock Torker II'.

And 'vacuum secondaries' will make life easier.

A 'No No' Below,

Though the 'Speed Demon' is a fantastic fuel unit, those Carburetors are
designed for Camshafts with a profile of 220* to 240* Duration @ .050" Lift.

I think he is referring to the newest 750 spread bore Demon "no Speed" 750 cfm, that is patterned after a Thermoquad....

Put this on it.

Thank you!
Geebus, I thought everybody knew those numbers. Guess I should have spelt it out.
Yep! You should because not everyone ( myself or anyone reading/posting) knows numbers of everything. And yep! Sometimes, looking it up is to much work.
Ahhhh. The Internet......

A-Body

Thank you for the correction.....

"Simple Way"

In one of our {slightly modified} 340's, we are using a Carter AVS #4933S
{630 CFM} off the 1970 340 {Manual Transmission} Engine.
* Primary ......... 1 7/16"
* Secondary ..... 1 11/16"

Mounts perfectly on a square-flange Intake Manifold, on one our
street-use vehicle's > 1970 Duster 340 ~ 4-Speed, with 4.10 Gears.

The Carburetor came through with .101" Primary Jets and .095" Secondary Jets.

We changed the Primaries to .104" with a .070" x .042" Metering Rod.

The Secondaries, we changed the Jets to .098"

Runs great, and has a fantastic throttle response.

There was no need to spend $$$$ on a new fangled Carburetor.

Oh heck! I might as well ask my question... I'm setting up a W5 stroked engine with the MP race single, what carb should I use?
