Also did a test run on a 1955 Willys Jeep L6-226 cu. in. (flathead) Carter factory 2 bbl carb for that vehicle.
Nice 2 bbl Carter with a cast iron butterfly assembly, and a very impressive accelerator pump linkage > almost like an overhead rocker assembly to run the accelerator pump and metering rods at the same time.
Impressive Engineering
This carb ran out extreamly well on the same 360. No Bog when opening up the throttle, yet idled back down right nice.
Impressive small mopar pattern carb that ran well on the mopar small block V8.
Impressive Metering Rod assembly and Accelerator Pump, and imagine this was Factory Built in 1955 for the Willys Jeep 6 cylinder Flathead > 2 bbl. "Super Hurricane" engine.
This engine has rod caps 2 fingers wide, and is still holding 45 psi oil pressure on it's original 1955 build.
Also has pistons with 4 piston rings and full floating rods, solid lifters.

That Stromberg 2 bbl would be the perfect Carb for the 318 "Mission Impossible" build that David Vizard is doing, straight out of the box no mods.
Let them set up their 300 + horsepower 318 long block, then put a Stromberg on it to finish it out.
Easy 300 + HP
And Yes, this NOS Carb is from the '60s and still have the original box.

I bought 2 nos BBDs from a guy who is on the /6 forum, i wish I'd have bought more than 2.
6537s, a 318 application, both went into /6s and run fantastic.
I only wish i knew my son was gonna sell the truck i put the 1st of those nos bbd's on, I'd have rebuilt one of the old ones on my shelf and stuck onto it to keep that other nos one.
At the time (2 years ago now i think) the guy selling them had like 10 of them...
I paid around $170/ea. NOS, NOT reman .. were still in the original packaging from back in the day. Out of the box ran great with no more than a slight twist of a screwdriver based on what my vacuum gauge told me

I remember that for 1 or 2 years, dodge used the Rochester 2 bbl as original equipment on 318s.... Around 71 or so.

2 brass metering rods on the left and the accelerator pump on the right. You can adjust the actions by loosening the screws on the main shaft and turning the shaft.
Pretty ingenious, you can incorporate the tune of both right there under one cover.
By the way the Red 1955 Willys Jeep has a hydraulic tip up box, a factory PTO driven front winch, 3 speed on the floor manual transmission.
Very few of the Super Hurricane Flathead 6s came with a factory 2 bbl intake and 2 bbl carburetor, most of the Super Hurricanes were 1 barrel carbed.

We have a local acquaintance with a 50s Jeep truck. Is has a small block Chevy in it with a tunnel ram and two FITech four barrel throttle bodies. It's pretty cool. I'll get some pictures next cruise in. In fact, I may can find some now. Lemmie look real quick.
Not a good shot, but here it is. I'll get some better ones next time. They're on a tall cross ram, not a tunnel ram. It has a kinda cool faux finish on it too.
