GO YANKS! A-Rod comes through in the clutch... 15 innings, almost 6 hours - a game for the ages. Two of the best pitchers in baseball going at it too. Gonna be hard for the Sox to recover from that loss. Boston fans must be morose.

That was almost as good as Tuesday's game when Evan Longoria hit two homers late in the game to beat Boston in the 14th.
GO RAYS
Sadley we lost last night on a 11th inning homer after going ahead.

It was a great game, Jeter had a few chances to win it but couldn't get it done...very unlike him

Yes,a-rod came through in a BIG way..then the Yankees shut them out AGAIN yesterday,,go for the sweep Yankees!!!

It's awesome that you're from Boston and such a hard core Yankees fan. Your friends must love it when you show up during a Sox-Yanks game.

Supposed to be on the road at 2:30am to be in Rochester, NY by 4:30am to get through security to fly out to MN on the 6:30am flight. Where am I am at 12:30am? Sitting my *** in front of the TV jumping up and down as I watch a ball sail into the visiting bullpen. And then they finish the sweep, Boston's buried at 6.5 games back...Tampa's just a half game behind 'em for second in the East, the Rangers are tied for the wild card... gotta love it. And here all the talking heads after the first part of the season were saying the Yanks couldn't beat Boston etc. Since the last series between these two, the Yanks are 19 games above .500 and Boston is at .500. Gotta love the Yanks!

That was me, I didn't think the Yanks would do anything this year. While I'm not surprised, I'm kinda looking at this little run they're on going, wow, they're playing really well. Everyone is doing their job and thankfully the injuries have been kept to a minimum. They've really hit their stride at the right time. Let's hope they can carry this momentum into the playoffs.

Really can't stand the Yankees or the Sox for that matter, but since you live right there I guess it's ok if you have to like them. :-D Being able to buy the best players year after year is kind of nauseating, while it doesn't guarantee a championship it always puts you in the mix :munky2:

It's going to be a good finish. The Yankees are clicking. We still have 6 games left against the Yanks and 6 from Boston and finish at home against the Yankees. Hopefully were still in it buy then and it's a good series.
Whenever the Rays played the Yankees here in St. Pete, I thought there fans, which were alot, weren't to friendly to put it nicely. Well then I started going to the Boston games. They made the Yankees fans look like angels. :-D
The Phillies(my favorite team as a child) came to town this year and I was supprised at how mild their fans were.

Somehow they have heart this year! Tex is the man.

Every team in baseball has the same opportunity to buy players. Only difference is that the Yanks seem to be the ones to consistently step up and do it - all in the name of winning which is OK with me. Often this approach has not worked in their favor and we end up stuck with un-tradeable has beens.

I'm good with the fact that the Yanks are willing to do what it takes to put the best possible players on the field. Some franchises are ok with mediocrity I guess. If your front office is not willing to put in the effort, how do you expect the whole team to do the same?

Plus, some of their better players are home grown - Jeter, Rivera and Posada. There's also Melky, Cano and Phil Hughes. Yanks are good at judging talent, whether they pay for it or draft the player from the start.

It's also good for baseball that the Yanks are tagged with the perception of buying talent. (Like you pointed out, a lot of it's home grown and the money is there to keep the home grown talent.) The Yanks pull the crowds in at visiting parks because the visiting fans want to see the Yanks. Everyone wants a chance to see how well their own team is going to do against the greatest franchise in the history of baseball. They want to see the hometown team beat the Yanks, they come out to root against the "evil empire." The Yanks put butts in the seats no matter they go because of this reason. They also put a lot of butts in the seats because there are a lot of Yanks fans in others cities who want to see the team.
Want to fuss about spending then fuss at the owners who are taking the revenue sharing and not spending it on talent. Or creating the idea that their city is the place to play. Everyone who plays in pinstripes does so because they want to be part of that, hard to turn down a franchise when you can line up all the history and Hall of Famers that have worn the stripes.

That was SOOOOOO sweet a sweep of the rag sox, can't wait to get to work in the morning i' sure it'll be awfully quite there,Yankees up 6 1/2 games good luck fighting for second with the Rays rag sox....

That's not really true, only a few teams have the money to buy, or if they're homegrown, keep the best players. It really isn't a level playing field in that sense. Look at Toronto they just did a salary dump and they won't be able to afford to resign Doc either. The Yankees in particular buy their way into the playoffs every year which is great if you're a Yankees fan but one of the reasons many aren't. I do agree they're playing with some heart this year, something is different.

I really tend to disagree with your 'buy in' statement. As I said before every team has the same opportunity. True, the Yanks have a lot of money but it's because they win and as said above, they put butts in seats wherever they play. And really, what team owner is poor?

Look at it this way - if you chose to run a business, do you keep your investments in it at a bare minimum or do you try and do whatever it takes to be successful? Like I said before, it hasn't always worked in their favor. I've been angry with they way they do things for a long time, including this year but I really can't argue with their current success.

One thing though, you can't buy heart. Look at the Mets, they have a huge payroll and they suck.

Baseball is a business now,and when you run a business you want the best equipment and people working for you..don't hate the YANKEES because they can afford to buy whoever they want, every team would be doing it if they could afford it...GO YANKEES!!!!

You got that right stroked 340, look at how many players are not even US citizens. All those millions are being sent to there homelands. That's the way to boost our economy. If that isn't american buisness I dont know what is.

They're a huge market team which really helps with putting fans in the seats, but more importantly they have an owner that is willing and able to spend like he does. Other teams do not have that opportunity for one reason or another. It's like me telling you that you have the opportunity to put a hemi in your car and build it into some wicked badass ride. Well you only do in theory, if you don't have the money for whatever reason then that "opportunity" really isn't much of one.

As I'm Canadian I try to half hearted pull for the Jays but they either don't have money or aren't willing to spend it, so they aren't truly competitive, although they did beat the Yanks last night

What in the heck is going on over there ?................
