I have a 1966 3.09 low gear trans that I converted to a long tailshaft for my Bbody race car years ago. At the time, all I had to do was to put all the gears, synchros and sliders from the 3.09 trans onto the long tail shaft and bolt the long tail shaft onto the 1966 3.09 front case. Can I install all the 3.09 stuff from the old front case into my numbers matching front case on my 69 Barracuda? The 3.09 first gear with the 3.23 SG would be a sleeper combination but I'd like to keep the numbers matching trans case in it.

Yes, You have to keep the gears and Cluster gear together. Everything else in your example interchanges. I'm not sure you will see much difference in the end.
