Okay Guys,
I ordered a Turbo Action reverse pattern valve body from Summit Racing. I was actually looking for a valve body that applied the low band but (as usual) Summit didn't have one. I ordered the Cheetah valve body (P.N. TAC-17156) as I've always liked the firm shifts and a lot of people were pretty happy with them. I currently have a Fairbanks manual reversed pattern valve body in my current TCI Street Fighter transmission that I installed around 2000. It came with a automatic valve body but I wanted a reversed pattern manual. I had the Fairbanks valve body from a previous transmission and although (I thought) that it was in the transmission it never gave me the firm shift I was looking for. Well as you might expect it shifted the same in this transmission. My buddy Larry (64mopar) put a shift kit in his trucks and the shifts feel like you've been hit it the back of the head with a 2X4! Well when I went to Summit to buy the valve body I got the same line that I got when I tried to order the Mopar Performance air cleaned I wanted ("wow, we must have had a real run on these, we have 4 coming in later this week. If you put your order in today you'll have it by Monday") That was almost 2 months ago! I know that they are going to use the Covid19 excuse but they NEVER stock anything for Mopars even though they try to make you think they have it sitting on their shelf in their enormous warehouse well all know they are having it dropped shipped to your house from the manufacturer. Well I am thoroughly pissed at them so I started researching other possibilities. I see the John Cope (CRT) makes one WITH low band apply, Made in USA (by him) and costs about the same as the Cheetah. He does say I'll need a low reverse billet servo kit which will cost another $90.00. Are any of you using this valve body and are you happy with it. Thanks for your help.

I am using it, no issues so far. Almost 2 years now.

When ever CRT comes up i must say. I am not affiliated in any way with CRT. we just happen to have the same name.

I can say nothing bad about their products. Works as described, is machined very well and the company is a joy to work with.

I recommend him and his products to anyone needing trans parts.

Thanks, I appropriate that. Are you using the street or the race valve body? I am not sure which way to go. The car is a 1969 Dart, 490 HP 516 TQ 418 stroker. 3500 stall converter and 355 Sure Grip. Again thanks for your help.

Race.

RMVB

I have a very angry small block. 3800 stall from ultimate. 4.88 & spool.

I drive the car on the street all the time.

I did just like when i ordered my converter. Call and give em all your info and the them decide what parts are needed.

In fact i told john, "just sell me all the parts i need to build a bad *** race 904"

His response was ok, whats your credit card number....

He did screw up my clutch pack kit. I had already started soaking the packs in fluid before i noticed it was wrong.
He said put em in a platic bag and send em back. The new parts will ship out today.

He sent out my new parts before he had even known i was sending back the other parts.

Great company.

Well I ordered the street version, I will let everyone know how it goes. Should be here in a couple of days. Thanks Again

I have almost the exact setup as you and have been very happy with the street version. Going on 6 years with no problems.

I know that only like 3 companies make the clutch disks but i will say my last 904 made it 3 or 4 hits before it was done. This one, no issues.

Been doing business with Mr. Cope since 2003. I trust him.

Thanks for your input. It's always good to hear feedback and know that you made the right decision.

NO BAD MOUTHING crt , I wonder why u didnt go to the source to start with and call turboaction , always eliminate the middle man if possible !

I was at Summit's showroom so I ordered it there. I was told "there must have been a real run on these parts. We have for these coming in this week you should have it by Monday" should have known they were lying, their lips were moving. I did call turbo action directly and asked them if they were shipping these out. I was told that they had issues with suppliers that were not shipping the parts out for them to build the valve bodies with due to the coronavirus. My point is Summit should have had at least a few on the shelf. Instead of 100 Chevy valve bodies maybe they could have stocked at least five of the Mopar.

Okay,
So unlike Summit who said I would have my valve body in a few days and then after 2 months it STILL didn't ship. So I call CRT and talked to John Cope, he had my valve body shipped to me in 3 days! It was a great experience overall. This valve body has the low band apply and it's made in USA as well. The cost was about the same as Summit and it was good to deal with the little guy instead of the big corporation. Here's a few pictures, notice the hand written thank you from John on the box.

Nice! Did you opt for the race version or street version?
I went with the street version. Even the street version seems like a SERIOUS unit. Readg the instructions it seems like it's going to be a really hard shift especially the 2 - 3 shift. I am a little worried that with the torque my engine produces that I could be going sideways when it shifts. Guess we'll see.

Thanks! Would you mind doing me a huge favor and snap a closeup photo of the pressure adjustment screw and spring? I just bought the race version and am curious how they differ, in terms of adjustment and such.

Thanks for the biz, we truly appreciate it.

No problem John, I really appreciate your prompt service! You delivered on your promise and I greatly appreciate it. In these days when customer service is secondary to profit you were a breath of fresh air. It was a GREAT experience and I would highly recommend CRT to anyone. Thanks Again.
