Splitting hairs but get rid of the wing nut. O-ring and a regular nut. :) Push down on the lid a little while tightening.

Hi there. I haven't read all 74 threads but is that the original color? What's the code? Thanks a lot.

Purple power or oil eater is great for oil. On porous blocks, @Bodyperson is right: solvents. A scrub brush helps too.

The speedo sender should have an O ring and a lip seal on the speedo pinion. Are you leaking from the sender or from where the cable connects?

Most autozones I've been to carry the thicker dual plane (two ovals) gaskets in the performance and chrome aisle, but ymmv, it's a regional thing.

Yea the auto zone near only had a 4 hole 1 inch spacer. The hub about 20 minutes away has the 9266 in stock though.

Its leaking from the housing seals on the tailshaft, not where the cable connects. It has a new oring. I'll also look into the lacquers.

I got a punch that belongs to you was in bucket....bring it by tomorrow....

A punch of mine? Sweet I'll see you tomorrow! That spacer and the 8725 (essentially same besides mounting holes) are the ones I was looking at. Those 2 are the only dual planes that are not aluminum that summit and jegs sell.

Be careful with the stud being too tall. I measured mine with clay on my GTS with the 499" stroker and looked to have plenty of room. My first time nailing it I have a wing nut dent in the middle of my beautiful hood. Joe

I made that mistake too when I got the new stud, just without the wing nut on it. So you can see a little Itty bitty dent from it.

Ya know, that stuff will decay your teeth. :poke:

Lacquer thinner and floor dry. Hose it down with the thinner and grind the floor dry into it with some elbow grease. Might want to wear a glove.

Yeah sugars are bad for your teeth lol. Thanks for the advice. What's this elbow grease stuff gou speak of? :poke::D

Oh hairs are split, I already took the wing nut off and put on a regular nut, and I have a slightly thinner air cleaner.

Doc, there's a hold down bracket for the speedometer gear housing. It looks like this. The two side prongs fit into the slots to hold it down.

All depends on the motor mounts. Not so likely with spool type. Mount broke in my fury, noticed it when the hood lifted.

I have regular rectangle rubber 7 dollar motor mounts. They look like this. Is this called a spool mount?

Yes sir. I have it on. It was just the first picture I saw on my phone. Here is how it currently looks. I took it out yesterday because I had it incorrectly "clocked" so my speedo wasn't working. It works now.

I'm just having a hell of a time setting the local cable "perfectly" now besides the leak... and spacer thing a ma jig. I also need to drain some watered down coolant add a little more non mixed coolant.

So my sister in law is going to Utah this weekend and bringing us back 15lbs of bacon... 15 pounds!!! I guess I'll have to make more room in the freezer.

Hi there. I haven't read all 74 threads but is that the original color? What's the code? Thanks a lot.

Sorry I didn't see this. You're not missing much in the 74 pages just me being not so smart and getting a lot of help from a lot of smart people on this site.

The purple/blue isn't the original color. This cars vin is originally a gold with vinyl top and pretty much no options lol.

The car definitely is a 10 footer. From 10ft it looks clean and once next to it you see the imperfections.

Speaking of me being not so smart... I jacked the car up to fix the leak... haven't done it yet because I didn't think the 1-2 shift was hard enough so I took this ball out of the VB. But my shifter arm that goes into the tail shift is being an asshole and won't come out. I tried pushing the little button thing in the tail shift but it seems to not want me to press it it today. I need it to come out so I can put the VB back in because its ready to spill some coffee :steering::thumbsup:

So ill fiddle with the seal for the speedo and then get back to the VB arm dilemma. I would say ill be a pro at this vb stuff pretty soon.

You took it back apart? :BangHead:

Tell me about it haha.
I left that ball in originally because I was worried the 1-2 shift would be to harsh. But after having it all back together the 1-2 shift was actually not hard at all... so said **** it im going to be losing fluid pulling the speedo I might as well just pop that little ball out too. Which I'm done and ready to put the vb back in but that arm doesn't want to come out lol.

Saw this on fb and thought it fit me and my welding perfectly!

**** Howdy, this is me! How did you get my photo???

Seriously, I can start a 2" straight weld and when I'm done it looks like I was trying to sign my name in cursive. :BangHead:

Bring that O-ring to a rubber supply/hydraulic shop they might have one like it.

I got one... stole it off my 727.

Pull your cable off the speedo adapter. Then with a robertson screwdriver you check that gears are engaged.

What do you mean? Like unscrew the cable from the speedo housing? The speedometer was working, just when I reinstalled it the correct way I tore the little o-ring.

Putting everything back together right now

not sure from the pic, but i think the lever you're talking about is the parking pawl. get the back wheels in the air and you should be able to take the tension off of it to move the lever
