not sure from the pic, but i think the lever you're talking about is the parking pawl. get the back wheels in the air and you should be able to take the tension off of it to move the lever

Yes thats exactly what I did! It worked great. Everything is all back together now.

Speaking of me being not so smart... I jacked the car up to fix the leak... haven't done it yet because I didn't think the 1-2 shift was hard enough so I took this ball out of the VB. But my shifter arm that goes into the tail shift is being an asshole and won't come out. I tried pushing the little button thing in the tail shift but it seems to not want me to press it it today. I need it to come out so I can put the VB back in because its ready to spill some coffee :steering::thumbsup:

So ill fiddle with the seal for the speedo and then get back to the VB arm dilemma. I would say ill be a pro at this vb stuff pretty soon.

It should just pull out, but not easy. Grab it and give it a good hard jerk. Also make sure there is no load on it, let the vehicle move a little back and forth but not so much to run you over. lol

Opps didn't see the other posts. Sorry.

Well then. Go drive!!!!!! :steering:

Will do when I'm all done with shopping and putting the new dist coil on. I took a break for a bit.

Had my son help me adjust my shifter. He used his foot and was pressing pretty hard when I noticed. ****... "little **** you bent it..." "sorry dady..." checked to see how bent it was, oh hot damn shifts through all the gears better than ever... love you kid. :thankyou::thumbsup:

Ordered edelbrock 8126 fuel line kit and tried to order the spacer but the store couldn't order the 8725. I'll go get the 9266 tomorrow and see how it does, then maybe the 8725 another time.

This screw seemed to be leaking a little so I tightened it. But now I'm trying to remember if its an adjusting screw. Time to read the tf manual and find out lol.

Edit - this is front servo release port and is for testing fluid pressure. Tightened all the way up does nothing to the adjustment

m=special order engine 8=1968 b=built in Hamtramck I used to own one.

I'm not sure but you might have been the first person to notice.

Thats awesome! How long ago did you get rid if it? Hemi Darts are pretty sweet cars for the track I can only imagine having one as a slurpee getter :). Do you have another dart now?

I actually street drove it all the time. Used to drive kit back and forth to work and street raced it on the weekends. And yes drag raced it. I sold it in 88. I've got a couple of darts and barracuda's. 2 early darts and a 69 factory 383 4 speed car that was tubed when I got it. Other than the rear frame rail and tubes and roll bar it's stock. Got a hemi for it but still confused to make it a street car or a dedicated race car. But I' m not leaning to the race car right now as it's still all steel (- hood) and straight and painted but apart.

I like the idea of street cars. 69 383 would be a gts car right? What color is it? Sounds like you got a barn full of cars over there

cool, now you know who the real mechanic in the family is

Just went for about a 30-40 minute drive. The car starts right up with the new distributer coil but it still does the same constant spart when ignition key first gets turned on but pulses when cranking.. on the drive I was stopping to adjust the kick down linkage little by little. Closest I got was under normal throttle driving was 1-2 shift at about 20mph and 2-3 shift at 30mph.

1-2 shift really isn't that hard of a shift either. Maybe because I'm not giving it enough throttle?

My 2-3 shift feels like it has ever so slightly of a delay though. Where its kind of revving a little before actually kicking into gear.

I'll have to play with it just a little more. The line has this much slack when pulled tight and having the best shift. I tried moving the adjusting knob out for more slack using the "pull cable tight and throttle all the way open" but i didn't like the shift and 2-3 felt like it was spinning up a little more without shifting and 1-2 shift was a little delayed as well. This adjusting the lokar sucks lol..

I'm going to drain a little water/coolant out tomorrow and add a little more coolant since its mostly water right now.

You are right with those Lokars that’s why I ended up going full manual I just couldn’t get the kick down to operate properly with the sniper and with the kd connected wouldn’t allow full throttle. Those sniper throttle linkage are based around the Chevy kd . real pain in the arse.

Full manual VB or manual transmissions? I was actually thinking to myself if I can't get the sucker adjusted again the trans will be toast lol.

It probably is going to take a bit extra adjusting with having the new 2500 stall TC as well.

Yes it's a GTS. Yea I've got a few. At one time I had a 2 car garage with 2 cars in it and I wanted to buy another one so my wife kept saying no but I had a plan. So I asked her if I can fit it in the garage can I buy it and she said yes. So I used a floor jack and slid both cars to the walls and when I got the car home I used the seat belt to tie the steering wheel straight and pushed it in between them. The only problem is she will not bit again.

The way you want to adjust the kickdown linkage is to first make sure the choke is fully opened, if not just tie it open and then have someone in the car flat pedal it and make sure you have full throttle opening by using a flashlight and looking down the carb. Repair as required. Then with the throttle still wide open adj. the kickdown so you have max travel on the trans. Also make sure it fully returns to idle position. Did you block the accumulator? ps again I haven't read thru all the responses.

I've never done it with the choke fully open, ill try that if this last adjustment didn't get it.

I told my wife your story of fitting an extra car in the garage. She just shook her head and said "don't even try it..."
