Dartin for Divorce

-
Cleaned the garage to make room for the new dart next week!

Just need to get rid of the saw and the mower, then I will have tons of space for the dart and all the parts.

In that case probably best to leave the color alone for a while. Kids minds change.:)

I imagine it will be a while before we paint it, it has a lot that needs put together before getting paint. I like black or dark green and the turquoise colors. Probably leaning towards black. We will see though.

Well this morning was D Day. My son got to pay the man for his new Dart and he is happy as a clam. This is going to be a fun project for him, first order of business will be organizing everything.

I also got a machined 440 block and I am trying to get a 4 speed from him if he has everything for a 4 speed.

**** yeah comes with new bumpers. 440 4 spd be awesome. Keep the updates coming.
Right now it has a built 400 in it. With a new TCI 727 transmission. Don’t know the rear gears or if it has suregrip yet. Definitely want a 4 spd for this one though.

Nice!! I'd have been in trouble with a 440 4-speed Dart as a first car. He's a luck kid!!

Well it is “his” but he won’t be driving it as a daily driver lol.

I did **** up with the block… apparently one of the cylinders got dinged at some point and I didn’t notice when I looked it over in the dark garage. I was taking in a lot. So maybe it will need a sleeve I’m not sure.

There is so much stuff! A lot of the parts are a turquoise color, and the steering column is a turquoise color, but the dash vin tag is a royal blue color. No build sheet or fender tag that I’ve seen yet so don’t know the true color of the car.

i'd stick with using the 400 rather than the 440. big cu in with available stroker kits and much more room in the engine bay for maintenance (and headers). just my thoughts though
neil.

The 400 is already done and built so it is staying in it. I just got an extra engine for “just in case I need it”

So I realized after getting it all put away in the garage… I don’t have front seats/ a front seat… so I asked the guy if it was in the shop still or what’s up with a seat.

I also need a wood grain steering wheel.

Black is boring. Look at 75% of the cars on the road today... they're black! Keep it a classic Mopar color, like the original bronze. Black is just ... black.

I don’t know if it’s an original T5 car, I don’t have a fender tag or build sheet. It may have been a blue or turquoise color, the rear seat is blueish color and many interior parts are a blue or turquoise color.

Unless the whole car was medi-blasted you should be able to find the original color somewhere on the car.

The whole car is grey… and has some black on it. The entire underside of the car has what looks like black bed liner on it. Maybe I’ll find it once cleaning the inside of the car out.

Your boy is young, so you have some time on your side. Take him to a few car shows and hopefully he will see a car in a color that he really likes. Great car, wish you two all the best !

Started organizing stuff… Sooo much stuff. Multiples of a lot of things as well as new stuff in the bunches. New quarters in the rear, new front quarters. I didn’t even get to the parts in the trunk yet

the car was definitely turquoise or blue… I can’t really tell as I’m not a professional painter. But I found the color under the little grill piece where the dash would be. Everything else on the car has been blasted.

Next week if it is nice I may try to get the hood, fenders and trunk on.

Oh I also got a text from the guy I got it from. Apparently some stuff got left behind, so I am going to head back out next weekend to pick it up.
