Well, got the duster looking good after 3 years and many $$$$ I was out for a cruse with my 8 year old daughter and a deer decided to commit suicide while I was going 55mph. I didn't even get to hit the brakes. dead center into the grille. new aluminum radiator into my new mopar viscous fan and stopped it instantly. Everything between the fenders is gone. Might be able to save the right NOS headlight surround I just put on it. Just as the weather got perfect for driving a classic Mopar. Oh well, back to drawing board.

Oh man I am sorry to hear that. I am assuming you and your daughter are ok? Thats why I decided to keep a spare set of fenders. I dont want to be back in the same boat years down the road because of an accident searching for hard to find sheet metal.

Yes, thank God the deer stayed low and no injuries. The car can be fixed. Just a bummer. Thanks.

I hope your daughter didn't get freaked out by the whole thing.... poor kid. Sorry about the Duster, what a drag. I can't imagine how pissed off I'd be.

I wonder if those deer whistle things work? Either that or a bumper guard ala general lee, lol.

Yes thank God no injuries to you or your daughter. I have read quite a few threads here about accidents and I dont know how I would react!! Actually I do and it wouldnt be pretty. Good luck getting her fixed!

We have the same problem here in Arkansas, Deere everywhere
I am happy to hear everyone is ok, There are allot of folks around here that have the whistle things on there car's and I am not sure how well they work.
Get a parts list put up and let us know what you need, I think I have a head light trim for a duster just not sure what year model . It's your's if you need it, I will get a picture up in this thread of it this evening, sorry to here the bad news, mother nature's animals can sure mess up a car, I hit a Pheasant at about 60 mph that was sitting in the road and as it flew it hit my windshield on my Monaco, it did not brake it but sure did scare the pageebees out of me

I have a grille minus trim for 200.00, I fixed one spot with SEM weld and painted it argent with paint from eastwood.com I also have the headlight bezels, painted with argent as well, they are not show quality, but would work out good enough for a temporary.

I'm glad to hear that you and your daughter were OK. Real shame after all the hard work though. Sounds like everything is repairable at this point, so good luck getting her back on the road.

A deer whistle looks so gay on anything, even makes its packaging look bad.
I have several dusters in the yard if you need parts, also a cherry shark-fang grill. Sorry bout the car, been there done that. [email protected]

Man! That sucks! Sorry to hear about this...I am glad you and your daughter didn't get injured. The car is fixable, no worries...

Bummer about the car. Glad you and daughter are OK. Nice to see others with stuff that might be needed for repair stepping up to make it available.

Rather than the deer committing suicide, I submit it was following its herding instinct. However, it mistook the Sublime for John DEERE green. :toothy10:

That's a good one. I did have insurance but because it's classic they have to approve the costs. No deductable on hitting a deer which is nice. Thanks to all who offered up availble parts. Once I figure out what I need I will let you know. I did salvage one turn signal bezel and lens. Thanks All

That's really crappy. First time out and bang.

I have tried to find an extra front end, have the bumper and grille, need a hood and fenders. Just in case.

We have scads of deer around here. They're small, but still do damage. I even know a guy that hit two deer in one day. They're everywhere, along the highway, in the ditches and even along the main streets in town.

Those whistle things don't work, actually deer are very curious and whistle noises will actually make them stop mid stride.

One of the most effective ways to slow down or stop a moving deer is to whistle.

Got my last buck using that trick.

First of all I'm glad you two are OK.
I have 2 buddies that have also hit deer lately with their classic cars. One car is a 57chevy wagon that was absolutely beautiful. He had just got it out of the body shop with a $$$$$$ dollar paint job that was perfect. The other one is a 56 chevy that the owner is restoring when he can. The idiots only had liability insurance on them. That should be a lesson for all of us. Get Insurance that covers your car.

Sorry I hear about your duster glad everyone is ok. I have the same fear every time I take my Dart out. I almost never drive down my street without seeing a deer. I have hit two in the last three years with various cars. I bought a 2010 Malibu this year, had only 6k on it and a deer ran into the drivers side rear door while I was traveling down a divided highway! So I feel your pain.

They need to up the limit on deer in my area and thin down the herd.

i was very scared when i first read post.. mainly because i didnt know if you and your daughter were. but now i am glad to hear you guys are. that is a very dramatic scene for your daughter to see at such a young age, i really hope it doesnt affect her later on down the road.. as for your duster, that thing was gorgeous man, but hopefully someone will have the parts you need here,

Fawkin Deer, but don't feel bad I had a friend who's brother bought a new GTO back in 64. He went Deer hunting that winter and hit one totaled the front end, went again the next year and did it again.

Parts needed (72 Duster) so far is grille, headlight bezels, parking light bezels, and lenses, metal across lower grille support behind bumper, bumper, (just put NOS bumper out of the box on it) . Got leads on a few items and body shop has call out. I will let you know if I need the grille and bezels. Thanks so much.
