I have an old style 8 3/4 rear. It has the 741 3rd member already, not the really old one. But it does have the bolt on drums. Can I switch this over to the newer axles and drum set up??? I cant see any reason why I would not be able to do it. The housing looks the same. I'm just wondering. I dont know for sure. Not like it would really matter though being it is the 11" big brakes and drums with the large bolt pattern. Plus as long as it is in good shape I dont see why I would need to switch anything over. But in the future, you never know what will happen. Thanks to all of you knowledgeable people for your help.

I assume the 8-3/4 was from a B-body. If so, later B-body axles, brakes, etc., will go right in. Makes you wonder what genius came up with that tapered drum fit idea/key-way creation, doesn't it. The great Danas that came in the early Studebakers had that crap too.
