I just purchased a 1976 Dodge Dart Lite.
I said I would never do another car, but I also said if a 65 Barracuda S or a Lite showed up it would be hard to say no.
So.......
This car came out of Arizona and has been sitting for 10 to 15 years.
The P.O. was not sure how long.
He purchased it in 1996 or 1997.
It is complete, mainly rust free.
Plans are for a running driving car with fixes as time and cash allow.
My son, who lives in Scottsdale, was able to help with the back yard rescue.
P.O. was moving and if I didn't get it out, it was going to be crushed.
My Wife and I are just back from our 2200 mile road rescue.
Here are just a few pictures.
There are a few plot twists so get your popcorn ready.

Cool, on my short list of wants as well as a Spirit of 76, and Hang Ten car

If you are lucky you might find a Lite with the Spirit of 76 option also.
Kill 2 birds with one stone!

It is a 4 speed.

So for the popcorn crowd here is a neat story about this Lite.

In 1997 I wrote an article for an Internet Site called Tailfins.
It was a early Internet place for Slants and Mopars.
I wrote about the Feather Duster and Dart Lite.
After that a man contacted me from Chandler AZ about his Dart Lite.
He sent me pictures and we loaded them up on Tailfins.
I kept all the correspondence and pictures from that.
Fast forward 27 years later.
After I found this Lite on Racing Junk I looked at the Fender Tag picture.
Then I looked in my files and dang if this wasn't the SAME car.
Same name, same car.
I didn't tell the owner this story.
When we got out to Phoenix I did this Video before we did any work on getting the car out.
He was pretty surprised when we started talking and I showed pictures of his car.
He actually shed a tear when he realized what was going down.
Here is the Video.

Post some pictures from when you wrote the article.

Very cool story, Stan! Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on the find!!!
Here's my story. FeatherDuster. I was in Missouri, found it on the net? about 2012? maybe. It was in Alabama, all there, ran, pretty solid, original paint, good original interior, auto (yes could be ordered with an auto!). I bought it and paid a hotshot $300 to drop it off about 30 mi South. Drove it home (barely). Just needed a good tune up.
I drove it work part time job 30 mi away for a couple years, among other Dusters, and traded to Mopar bud for a 65 Barracuda project, which I complete restored.
It got about 20 or son with the auto if I recall. I have had good slants with 4 speed OD get a real 25 on highway going about 55!

Thanks for the story Bill.
After I sold my Feather Duster I started looking for a Lite.
Only took a couple of Decades.

I got the Lite out of the trailer today.
Being able to turn the steering wheel really helped.
Here are some pictures of the field car!
It shows 60 something on the Odometer, I think this is the original muffler.
And that is half the grass that was growing under the car.
I talked to a couple of locksmiths today, trunk lock is going to be a problem.

Is the door or glove box key the same as the trunk? If so, take one of the locks to a "good" locksmith and they can impression a key for you.
