Bolt on sway bar available for Early(65) Dart? 1" or larger.

hellwig is the best, but $$
PST is cheaper, but the mounting and hardware is a little clunky
(fyi, addco, POL, kanter, pst is all the same bar)

Yeah. I have an Addco on mine. The bars are great, but Addco's hardware is junk. I got some universal mounting hardware from Energy Suspension.

Found the one from Hellwig. Any difference if using 73+ LCA?

without the sway bar tabs? no

with the swaybar tabs, i'm not sure if there will be interference. the bar won't engage them though-- wrong widths and what not on that stuff.

I got the 1.25 or maybe it’s 1.5 Heleig hollow sway bar bolted to my early A K and stock LCAs with stock location sway bar tabs. Other than drilling another mounting hole on each side, the Helwig was a piece of cake to install.

Any pictures Don?

No but I can take some later today after I get back from the Dr. i can get close ups of the sway bar mounts to the K as the K and LCAs are loosely mounted sitting on my roll around frame waiting for me to get off my butt and assemble the motor and mount it to the K

Years ago I saw a "how to" that started with a front sway bar from a C10 and modified it to work on an A-Body. This was _after_ we bought a hellwig, but I'd have done it.

As I recall, all that was done was cut the ends to length, then grind them flat, drill new holes and done.

EDIT: I guess it wasn't that long ago. Also NOT C10's....
C H E A P front sway bar idea for 73-76 A body cars....

Great info. How about a rear sway bar set up for the '65 Dart? Will be swapping in an 8 3/4.

I have the matching 7/8 Addco bar on mine. But again, I upgraded the mounting hardware.

that's also on a 73~76 and it passes thru the K with pick ups in the stock location on the lowers.

i'm not saying you couldn't do this or something like this on an early car, but that's a helluva lotta work that $250 solves.

I have an 8.75 with disc brakes in my Dart and used the smallest Addco rear sway bar. Other than drilling the mounting holes in each side for the special mounting bolts, it went in pretty easy.

As s side note I had a factory 76 A Body cop car rear sway bar and it was a no go eith the discs

I wouldn't say measuring, two cuts, some grinding and drilling two holes is lot of work. if you look at the thread, it cost him $100, has a 1.25 sway bar. You could literally mount it the same way a hellwig is mounted. The mounting brackets don't require any rocket science to make. So for folks on a budget, it's a great way to get that huge sway bar.
