Electric guitar...

right on... but I thought because I was in the neighborhood I'd stop by and say "hi". :)
I like George Jones and Waylon Jennings as much or more than the next guy but I like to play hard rock on the guitar...
I'm kind of diverse in that way... When I grew up in the US Virgin Islands in the second and third grade the only thing on the radio was reggae and calypso....
Lots of steel band music...
"HOWDY"!!...:D...

@j par, how about posting a little video of your progress? I would love to hear a little picking, good, bad or indifferent. I’ll bet you’re a little better than you think!

It's ruff.. very ruff...lol . I can see this is going to take another summer of practice... Right now I'm splitting to much time with the Power Wagon build... As that hopefully starts wrapping up and the day's get longer I'm hoping to start turning the corner with my playing...

Don't give up, alot of it is muscle memory and training your hands, along with the theory or knowledge of music and how it works on the guitar fretboard. Once you have the hands trained you never lose it. You may get rusty but it comes back. i can not pick up a guitar for months and the picking and fretting technique comes right back. I takes years and crossing plateaus of learning, but just don't quit.

Are you working on up and down pick movement?

Not as much as I would like to. Kind of working on strumming up and down as far as picking hand goes but I know it's necessary to as my teacher would say econo pick... I'm working on making sure I always use my pinky finger when I'm using my fretting hand and not trying to three finger it...

Good man! Things will come in their time, and the number one thing I hear from you is that you’re dedicated to practicing at least 1/2 hour a day. You’ll be surprised that one day that things will start picking up speed and falling into place. When you can stop concentrating on the mechanics, and the patterns will be much more natural. Pick on brother, you’re doing fine!

If I don't practice (once or twice a month) I feal like I'm cheating myself and I don't like to be cheated!...

I’m working on this one atm, the intro and the ending fade out. Great sounding guitar and riff from the Moody Blues. Might not be your cup, still good riffs

The Moody Blues - You And Me (Tab)

I'm still very much working on the basics.. I probably spend a lot of time working on all the scales and chord progressions right now. I work on my little riffs but still only a little over 6 months into it... I figure this time next year will be a beginner at a year and a half in and can start trying to play stuff...

Nice guitar in this 2-minute video. Soft strumming. It's a style somebody might play. Sounds easy enough ........ :)

So it's a shameless plug everywhere you can find me on the forum..
Well, buddy ole' pal ole' buddy.... as you find my threads and sling a little off topic mud, I can easily find yours :) Oh, I'll never expect you to see it. But yes, as you suggested, I can use every thread you create as a place to shamelessly promote my videos and stay somewhat on topic!... Buckle your seat belt! LOL

Well I like the fact that you would do admit that you shamelessly provoke I mean promote your videos.. for your Youboob channel... Shouldn't you have to be some kind of vendor or pay royalties to The Forum for that....?..

Naw, when Joey found out that I promote FABO on my channel, he subscribed :)

I'm having a HeeHaw flashback.

Jpar is a pickin', and 318willrun is a grinnin'
Before he started using this thread to shamelessly promote his YouTube channel he did make some comments on the actual guitar stuff and it was quite adamant that he has his genre he's specific to... specifically doesn't like distortion...
Myself I have a wide taste for different kinds of music...

I play a little too. If Jpar would play his guitar by the 2nd story window, I'd help him out

My oldest plays the geetar purty good.

I can pluck a little. Keeps the neighbors away.

Still at it.. I feel I'm not pressing the string's as hard and I don't have to watch my fingers as much... The little "breaking the law" and "enter sandman" riff's are more comfortable and consistent..
"Crazy train" riff is getting better... But still not consistent... Lesson still once a week... And still half hour practice every day.. (maybe missing once every two weeks)

now that sounds like good progress. It sounds like you’re getting more comfortable with the neck, and your fingers are thanking you for the hard work. Keep it up, someday we will be watching from the crowd!

Crazy Train is "busy" and uses a significant stretch on the ring and pinky fingers.

Real easy to get rusty on that one if you don't play it often.

Same goes for the acoustic intro to Fade to Black. They are mechanically similar.
