From the trunk floor to the bottom of the sender where the ground strap is. The ground is highlighted in orange the slice is where I removed it and reconnect it. I know it's not a proper splice yet but I will fix that.

You gotta meter, right? I don't think you're getting a good ground signal. You ain't stupid by a dang long shot and you tested the sender GOOD. I SAW where you tested the gauge GOOD. Take that meter and see if you have continuity from where you have it grounded on the floor to the sender. I bet you may not have a good ground.
