Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

Picked for fridge duty?
Not much left here.

Yeah...our turkey was beaten too. I ran 4 miles in the morning.....shoulda done 8 by the time the homemade pecan pie came out.

I am trying to figure out how the power steering pump assembly goes together on a 74 Duster 318. The cast date of this block is '74 and pictured is the pump that was on the car originally.
This motor is not original to the car, but as best as I know, the pump and the bracket shown were on a 318 in this car at one point.

I had a friend over today who brought a selection of pumps and brackets, most of which are for '69 era cars. nothing he brought looked like it would work on my setup.

Can anyone chime in on which location (marked A or B in the engine pictures) is main point of attachment, and if this bracket I have shown is in any way part of the appropriate assembly for a 74 V8 car?

Thanks as always, I have posted this in the steering forum as well :D

Mopar basic 101
69 and early are different from 70 and up, will not work or align.
The pic 67 cuda posted is a Federal pump, parts are expensive.
Mopar also used a Saginaw pump which parts are easy to get for, most Chevy's had them.
Buy a complete set of everything from the junk yard or somebody here, do not mix and match parts. Take the pulleys and everything off the same car to ensure fit on yours.

67 cuda is fast posting, I would buy used if you can wait - find the parts.

I've seen some guys selling the parts pretty cheap or even giving them away, but then again I've seen some guys asking an arm & a leg for them. Your cheapest bet might be a salvage yard in your area. The eBay sites I listed earlier were $86.20 shipped to me for the Federal set and $60.90 for the Saginaw shipped. It's not the worst price for a set that are already pristine that includes the fasteners. If I had an extra set I'd send them to ya.

Am I right that this is a Saginaw pump?

Bob, I feel kinda silly but I had the Saginaw setup in the box with me today. lol now that I see the picture 67 posted it makes sense. I have everything you need including the pump. You already have a Saginaw Box style (one on right).

Check the pictures below I haz all of it.

I'm down with the dash plan for sure and I'm liking the painted bumpers, but I can't warm up to the black cop wheels and caps just yet.

I'm thinking dark argent or black rallye's.

The hub caps turn me off

I always thought there was something sinister looking about those steel wheels. It always makes me think of some of the old factory Hemi cars. - Sort of like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Going with stock style on the old duster.
Steel wheels, with poverty caps. 15 x7 with 275 rear.
I have had about every aftermarket wheel ever made.
Anymore I keep stock style wheels on my cars / truck.

Do you have small bolt pattern or large?

Po-Po wheels are BBP. My 74 has them done in gloss and I did satin on the 72. When I had a bunch of stuff powder coated I got an estimate on blasting and coating a set.....any color would have been under $500. I would muck around with the wheel in place. Plain wheel with chrome lugs. I like caps. Those centers may look good in argent, silver, body color?

I just replaced all those brackets on the 74.....since I broke 'em. All used of the shelf of things we never throw away because we might need them!

Carpeted work bench, the new house must be sweet !!!!!!!!
