I bought all my gaskets and body supplies from Detroit Muscle Technologies. Their products are spot on and they have done a lot to support our restoration hobby. They're good peeps.

Took the week after Thanksgiving to go deer hunting. Also went out all day yesterday for one last chance. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything with antlers and I didn't have a doe tag. I still had a great time being out in the woods far, far away from the office. I'll be getting back to the Duster soon. It shouldn't be to long before I get the drive train installed.

I recently discovered your thread and read through all of it over the weekend and wanted to say "great job". It's very cool that you have such a history with the car and are able to bring it back to better than new condition. The paint details look amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing it come together.

I've been sick for the last several days......seems like a frequent occurrence for me during the Christmas season. I have made some progress on the Duster. I removed the heater box because the cowl gasket gapped. I think I have that problem fixed by adding some extra gasket on top. I should get the box installed next weekend.
Trunk wiring is installed as are the tail lights. Master cylinder has been bench bled and installed. Windshield washers installed along with the foot pump. Wiper pivots and linkage are in. I hope to get the dash assembly in place soon. The engine assembly should follow once that's in.

You'll probably have the duster done before I get mine back from the shop.

It looks great!
Your car pretty complete John. What's the delay? Did a couple minor things on the car tonight. Headlight dimmer switch and the heater box are in place. The extra "D" shaped gasket filled the gap at the cowl nicely. Things are coming along.

How much did it costs to restore the original alternator ? I have mine to restore.I decided to send my alternator to Jim Ridge at Dixie Restorations down in SC. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about him as a person and everyone raves about his work.
My box arrived at the doorstep today. I could hardly wait to see how it turned out. I am simply amazed at the work Jim did. I will let the before and after pics speak for themselves.

I finished work on the trunk today. Installed the right side marker bezel along with the spare tire rim and jack components. Rear wiring harness is in place along with new light bulbs. On thing that I need to do is to figure out what size screws or bolts are needed to finish installing the plastic tail light covers. I don't remember what was on originally and I can't find them in my bagged and tagged inventory.

I don't know if 72 would be same bolts or not. If I had to guess I would say no.
Dave, does your '72 have plastic covers over the taillights? These plastic covers didn't hold up very well over the years.

I can't find my pictures but it's just a regular phillips head either #6 or 8 self tapping screw about 5/16-3/8 long. I used new hardware on mine (I had an original screw to copy) but dulled the plating with a scotch-brite pad so it wouldn't be too shiny.

It was a good day today. Picked up the screws for the tail light covers and got my dash in place. She's starting to look like a car!

Looking great Kevin, that takes me back about 8 months ago on my build, keep on making progress like you are and you’ll be driving her this spring.
Happy New Year FABO Members!! I don't want to jinx myself but the assembly has been going pretty well. I'm glad I didn't fully bolt the dash on. I forgot to pass my hood release cable through the firewall. I'll probably pull it off to do that and then pivot the dash on the side bolts so that I can hook up the speedo. I guess I was just a little anxious to see the Rallye cluster in side again.
Kevin, you're doing an excellent job brother, definitely doing the body/paint justice with your attention to detail. As a professional restoration shop, it amazes me the level of detail that the "average" enthusiast is performing on cars today. The gene is out of the bottle for sure.
I decided not to install my inside hood release. I didn't have a firewall opening to pass the cable through. I don't want to drill a hole sooooo the original release will be installed again. Thanks for the kind words Mike. It's funny that I bought my dash pad and Rallye bezel from you long before our paths crossed in your body shop. I'm in love with my Duster all over again!
