first tnt leaves room for improvment

Are you confusing the idle mixture screws with the main jets? To the best of my knowledge, and please correct me if I am wrong, there is no way to change the off idle mixture on a holley with a screw, only the idle mixture. You need to remove the float bowls and physically change the jets to change the mixture at anything other than idle.....

never said i changed the jets there 76, yes the mixture screws

29.5x11.5x15 old firestone slicks with 1/8 inch or so left on the wear holes
and about 6.5 on the fuel pressure ill open the regulator a little more next time.tire pressure was 15 lbs on the 2nd pass, guys remember this was my first 2 passes with this combo it a foot brake car with not much stall i was launching at 2500- 2800 rpms i think with more seat time and some adjusting times will improve.

Oh, ok, it just sounded like, from your post, that you were trying to change your running mixture with the idle mixture screws. They will have little to no effect on your cars performance, only on idle quality.

Sounds like with some seat time and tuning you will get it all sorted out, good luck!

Yep - Crank that regulator Roger! I'd add pressure until it just pushes the needles open - then back it down until they seat. 6.5 is not for cars that can run in the 10s.

Not necessarily, as long as you have the proper fuel volume, 6.5psi would be fine. I would be more concerned with volume at this point. For what its worth, I run about 6.5psi on my car and it runs 10's @ 123mph.

Same here.... 6.5 should be just fine. Might want to check the line size, may be to small. I use 1/2" from the cell to the dominator.

With any luck we will be hitting Lebanon Valley this weekend if all goes well with the fire up.

Start a log book.Write down all of your engine and run specs for each pass.

Post your 60 foots and trap rpm. This will give us and you clues to if you combo is working correctly with what you have. This will cut down on you trying to tune away a possible weak item(s) in your combo and putting unneeded stain on your wallet and car.

Once you have good base line and expectations of your combo realized make changes to get the most out of it one change at a time.(log book)

The goal is to enjoy your car. Not spend sleepless nights upset it wont run a certain ET. Trust me.... got the t-shirt!

I have 2 Holley blue fuel pumps with hard lines(no kinks) to a junction block and 1/2 inch braided line to a basic Holley regulator with one line to carb and one line to nos fuel soliniod, line from regulator to carb is 3/8, i have a new starter coming, i will recheck the fuel pressure when i get her fired up again Dave. maybe larger jets ? The cam is 555-555 but with 1.6 rockers 587-608 should feed an 850 ? gonna try 12 psi in the slicks and see how many rpms the brakes will hold before see pushes for a better launch and pay more attention to the tach i was shifting by ear as i have always done with my street cars even though they have tachs. also going to adjust my basic b&m ratchet shifter for a smoother shift.

ok thanks i understand i always thought the screws made it richer or leaner im a do it youselfer, shade tree mechanic, but have been playing with muscle cars since 78 this is a higher level now but still entry level as far as drag racing. i work construction for a living.

I'm not sure what the engine had for a dyno carb, of what the jetting in that carb was. That's important to know... Then we can tweak the 850 for it. Otherwise we have to start from scratch. I have all the stuff up here for Holleys.
