Hi all.

I got this 1967 Dodge Dart 270 (minus engine and transmission) just before Christmas 2013. Its in pretty rough shape, but i am looking forward to repairing it.

Im planning on painting it blue with white interior and red engine.

Here are some pics of the night i picked it up:

A worthy project, and I'm sure we'll all be anxiously awaiting more rectification **** on this '67--just keep updating anytime you get some stuff accomplished, or just to shoot the breeze. What all do you have in mind for the drivetrain? And for white interior-stock or aftermarket? Details, brother, details!

Hi, thank you, Ill post pics as i make progress.

Heres my plans:

360 engine, with ported heads, nice cam and nitrous oxide.
T56 6 speed manual transmission.
Ford 9 inch axle.

Original interior recovered in white with black carpet dash and headliner.

And for the body blue paint. Paint code PPG 0031 (Lamborghini Monterey Blue)

Hi

Here are some pictures of rust that i need to repair.

There is a hole in the floor big enough for my foot to go through. According to the previous owner, its caused by a leaky heater core.

Both quarter panels and trunk drop offs needs to be replaced as well.

Luckily the trunk floor is in good shape.

Ive been reading through lots of build threads before i bought this car, and its been very helpful. Ill try to make this build thread helpful to others as well.

I found a 1979 Dodge 360 engine out of a Power Wagon for sale for $100 including the manual truck 4 speed transmission. I wont need the truck trany, but luckily i already have a flywheel and bell housing.

I opened the engine up and measured the crank journals, block main housings, connecting rods, pistons and cylinders. They all measured 100% perfect. You could even still see the honing marks in the cylinders.

The previous owners said that he took the engine out of the truck in 1990 and its been sitting in his shed all these years.

So i will just rebuild it with new rings and bearings.

The cylinder heads will be ported and matched with the headers and intake. Aswell as being rebuild with new guides and cutting the valves and seats.

Yesterday, i assembled the dodge 360 engine.

It went smooth and easy and i finished it in only a few hours. Here is some pictures, step by step.

It was fun. I love engines. Its my favorite part of a restoration.

Today i painted the engine.

First i gave 3 coats of white epoxy primer to pond the paint to the metal.

Then i painted 3 coats of bright red paint. Its a solid color and gave good coverage.

Then lastly i painted 2 coats of clear coat. I mixed a little bit of gold pearl into the clear coat so when there is sun light on it, it has a golden shimmer in the light.

Ill post some pictures of the engine in the shade and the sun so you can see the pearl effect.

Note the gold pearl when the engine is in the sun light. I just love that effect. And the engine came out just how i wanted it.

Thank you very much :D Im happy with the way the engine came out.

The previous owner was setting the car up for a big block and as far as i can tell, he must have cut or welded the mounts on the cross member, but its hard for me to tell cause im not sure what its suppose to look like for a small block. So i will still see what to do with the mounts.

The truck engine mounts that i got with the engine, ill just use to weld a stand for the engine, so i can store the engine on it while i do the body work and get the transmission tunnel modified for the T56 transmission.

Thank you,

Louwtjie

Before i build the engine (When i was waiting on all the parts) I had a little mini project going on:

I found this used nitrous oxide system for sale on craigslist for $150 and spent $50 restoring it.

I cleaned the bottle out inside, sanded and then painted it. also replaced the o-rings and NOS labels. I got the new label stickers from Holley's online store.

Here are some pictures.

As far as mounting the small block I would use both a mid plate and a motor plate I'm using one in my 67 with a nitrous 526 wedge and it looks really good cause its aluminum and it is also stronger than using motor mounts

I am looking forward to following this build. I love the look of the 67 dart.
It looks like you are moving right along. As for the motor mounts, maybe throw in a new k member?

For a stockish 360? Wow-seems a smidge overkill, no?

Your K member should look like this except for where the 67 only idler arm mounts.

Not really I use one on a v10 ram it's a looks thing and a functionality thing cause lets face it if someone sees a shiny aluminum motor plate and a bunch if other shiny aluminum parts it looks bad *** lol

Hi, thank you for posting that picture of the K member. After looking at it im sure the previous owner modified the mounts.

Though the aluminum mount plate might look cool, im just gona keep it stock and get a new K member.

If anyone know of a K member for sale, please let me know.

Thank you,
Louwtjie
