fuel sending unit/fuel gauge

What wire is the fuel gauge there is a blue wire running from the tank but behind the dash the are so many wires I don't now witch one to use

You have a wiring diagram? It should go to the connector which plops onto the rear of the PC board(s) for the dash cluster. It is shown as dark blue.

ok so now I got the fuel gauge to work most of the time it has about a quarter tank which sounds about right but some time it reads full tank

Check to make sure the wire isn't grounding somewhere. Also check the little ground strap back by the tank, it's a metal piece about 4-5 inches long right by the sending unit and has a clip on each end to clip over the metal fuel line. Make sure each end has a clean connection.
