Fully Built 225 Slant Six Pricing Question

-
Hello! Long time reader, first time poster. I have a 225 Slant Six in my 1963 Dodge Dart that is quite built up, and I'm looking to sell it so I can trade up to a small block V8. The problem is, I have no idea what it's worth, and I feel like I'd get more value selling it as a whole, rather than parting it out (which will also take a lot longer).

Here are the details:
- 225 Slant Six Rebuilt about 15 years ago, but only driven about 10-15k miles since. (At most.) It sits a lot, job takes too much of my time.
- Bored 0.060 out, crank ground 0.10 under, decked, ported and polished, bigger valves, Isky cam (not sure which one).
- Jacobs Ignition
- Pertronix
- NGK Plugs
- Taylor Wires
- Holley 390 CFM 4 Barrel
- Offenhauser 4 Barrel Intake Manifold
- Headers
- Mini High-Torque Starter
- Lokar Throttle Cables
- K&N Air Filter
- Slight oil leak from the valve cover.
- Had a AAA inspection about 8 years ago, came back clean except the usual little leaks and creaks.
- It runs, but the carb needs a refresh, it didn't get driven much during the pandemic, so it sat for a bit.

So, the question is, about how much should I ask for the whole package?

Also, I have the original automatic torqueflite that was rebuilt about the same time. It runs and shifts fine, but has a small leak at the pan. What's it worth separately? As part a package with the engine?

Thanks!

So the O.P. has a '63 dart and wants to put a V8 in it , well it can be done after the firewall and windshield wiper motor and linkages are changed to '64 -'66 then there will be room for the distributor to clear the firewall without the cap being broken .
Don't even think of taking a hammer to the firewall to get clearance it will mess up the wiper system .

So for a guy that doesn't have a bunch of time this should discourage one from doing a V8 swap in a '63 not to mention the cost . Of course the added expense of adding disk brakes , wheels and tires and headers and complete exhaust system , radiator , hoses , conversion engine mounts , V8 torsion bars , V8 center link , etc. etc. etc. $$$$

Here is a picture of a V8 on its new mounts sitting in a '63 notice how the wiper motor bulge leaves no room .

Remember it wasn't until '64 that the A bodies got the V8 and a new firewall and wiper system to make room for the V8 , this set up ran through '66 .

This is a picture of the inside of the '64-'66 firewall and wiper mount note the bump on the center of the firewall this gives the Distributor the clearance .

Here's a pic of the engine side of the '64 -'66 firewall , see the divot next the the wire .

I’m in Indy, could use this setup

^^^ I am in Texas and I will not venture to guess a price, BUT it will sell for a lot better if RUNNING!!!!! \
If you had milled it to increase compression, that would have made a big difference in worth. IMHO
Having compression/leak tests would be good info for a buyer also.

I always joke, "anything above scrape for any part is SALESMANSHIP!" :poke:

Welcome to FABO, the OP hasn't been here for a couple of months, and as per the post a couple above....putting a V-8 in a '63 is way more than just parts swapping. I'm guessing the swap may have been aborted, but I'll re-tag @Gone2plaid.com , We'll see if an update is forthcoming.......

Hogwash. He doesn't have to do any of that firewall nonsense. If he puts a low deck big block in it, he has plenty of room for a distributor.
