Future of collector cars

Do your research. The current generation is the most educated in history.

Supercapicators will replace batteries.

I dont care if a Fri night cruise cost me $100, Ill still do it.

Classic cars are a work of art to be cherished
I for one paid my student loan back IN FULL.......left no responsibility of mine on other people so these worthless millennials can start there and take care of their own personal responsibilities before they will ever get any respect out of me.

Really??? Then why are more of these losers still at home sucking on mommy's tit and don't have and or can't keep a job? Also why all the talk of student loan forgiveness to these pukes???? THEY ARE **** AND YOU KNOW IT.....

This generation wants a paycheck but arent willing to work for it, intelligence and education dont equal a work ethic

That is a point.
I really think a lot of the problem is kids not raised to be other than players at after school sports taken there by soccer moms!!!
Grown youth adults that live in mom's basement is usually because mom does not do tough love for the kid. Stupid? or just plain lazy!?
Rminds me of back when a kid and we had a big garden. Ma wold tell a friend (town friend) to come over a pick a mess of peas. They would tell her IF picked them, and brought them , they would take them.
So would respond " I guess you want me to shell them, cook them, and chew the **** for you too!?" LOL:rofl:

Ma was direct and was just being polite and did not tell them EXACTLY how she felt!!!:rofl:

Unfortunately education is only one leg of the stool of success. I think work ethic and talent are at least two more.

The latter 2 being far more important and could be the reason as to why the youth of today are **** for brains lumps of cow manure

My sons are early millennials. Both graduated from high school with a better work ethic than I had coming out of high school. They both own homes worth more than mine. All of their friends are working, as well. Yes, there are too many who don't have their work ethic and they make the news, but they are a relatively small number. There are also more ways to make money today than there were 40 years ago. Like the young lady I read about the other day. She's 22 and does cooking videos on TikTok making $5-10k per MONTH. Will that last for her? Who knows...

I have also spent some time substitute teaching (mostly high school) prior to Covid. I can't count the great kids I have come across. Kids that were no different than me and my peers were coming out of high school. Some knew where they were headed, other didn't. What they need is adults to teach them about life, not call them all worthless. And, yes, I have also come across kids who were doing NOTHING, but those kids still n eed adults to come along side them and teach them.

Kids are how they were brought up. “Helicopter” parents who would not push their kids or let them fail made the ones that want everything given to them. Kids that were given discipline, allowed to learn from mistakes are different. I’ve got 3 kids, one in construction that will keep up with anyone anywhere, making 6 figures now as a project manager of large scale projects. one worked full time as a single parent while going to night classes, pegged as a rising star at a foundry-no slacker there. Third attended grad school full time while working full time, paid off her $40,000 school loan in less than 10 yrs. There are hard working youngsters out there.

But back to the thread, my 9 yr old grandson who I’ve mentioned on here before loves to wrench on stuff. But he needs encouragement. He did 80% of the remove/replacement of the transmission in my Duster. Think he doesn’t enjoy that? But he may eventually turn to electric or tuner cars. And I’m good with that.

I personally look after hiring all our new staff…because I have to deal with them after and don’t like headaches…in the last 5 years every one of these millennials have been nothing but excellent…they work well with others and embrace change and technology…in fact the biggest problems come from my over 50 staff who want to keep doing everything like it’s 1987 still…

Dig that, but this Generation Z...

Yea, and I have seen kids that can not make change at a store unless the machine tells them how much. This has been the norm for how many years!!! No math, just takes simple arithmetic and a brain. I was taught all that in the 6th grade in what some of you would call backassward S Ga. Yea right.
Perhaps our school system is failing. Maybe parents are failing on their part with their kids. Maybe the colleges and universities have uncovered their cash cow, the student loan.
Maybe that POS burger at the fast food joint will never be worth the price, especially when the worker gets $15.00 an hour. Chit how many times out of 100 can they get your order right? 1 or 2 maybe!? I know, don't leave the drive thru till you check it out!!! Otherwise it my friggin fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:BangHead:

I think EV's have their place. But there are some applications that I think will always need an IC engine. Can you imagine a Cat D11 trying to run on batteries?
wasn't "Kill Dozer" a D 11...? I mean the movie not the nut job in Colorado...

as far as classics yeah retro fit to electric but save your original drivetrain...:)

I would make it mandatory for these lumps of **** nowadays to go through 1 year of brutal and in your face boot camp and military school that wasn't run by some pussy *** liberal......then they might amount to something

:popcorn:okay so let's not confuse intelligence with wisdom or common sense, if kids are smarter today because they can Google the answer to any question they have , well if that's your idea of smart then yes. But all the knowledge in the world is of no use to fools , number one point. Unfortunately a large amount of you live in a fantasy world fantasy games, fantasy Facebook, fantasy happiness, fantasy relationships dial a hump and youth suicides are at an all-time high at the easiest time in American history. I could go on but anyone that is honest with themselves will know that the younger generation has great challenges in front of them. This country was built on traditional family values and sweat equity. To turn your back on that is to take a path to ruin.

Don't forget logic. The evolution of intelligence is for a different day however I will use my Dad as an example. Grew up on a farm and that is an era gone by mostly (IMO.) The level of responsibility and work expected out of kids will bring the average kid to their knees today. I had an interesting vacation week this year and heard the stories from his Siblings. It was a way of life. And if today's kids were thrown into that environment they would figure it out. It's the evolution of how the world runs today.

I would ask you this. In my line of work it is slowly declining (Commercial printing) and the bulk of the experience is now aged. It shows in efficiency and in some cases mentality (irritability.) That's life and the next generation is completely different. But guess what.... The next generation is the only option. And if that isn't working then Automation is and will be the solution. The new generation loves technology and business has been forced to adapt. It's not always about the bottom line in regards to this problem.

So how do we change that situation? It has been going on since Dinosaurs ruled the planet and I don't see that ever changing. But I'm all ears as I have and am currently being entertained by a Corporation to take on this challenge. I don't want this to turn into a pissing match but rather lay your ideas out on the table...

Once again, I was born in the early 50’s. Grew up in the 60’s/70’s. You know, the era of long haired hippies. The previous generation, (the greatest generation) thought we would never amount to anything. I believe we proved them wrong. The next generation, (my son’s) I worried about, and I believe they are doing a pretty good job of proving themselves. Now I’m concerned about the next, (my grandchildren’s) and hopefully they will do the same. If my 24 year old granddaughter is any indication, they will. As I said before, I feel it is our duty to do what we can to help them achieve that.

Don't get me wrong there are good young people out there intelligent hard-working honest young people but society continues to get more greedy more corrupt more selfish and self-serving all of the time. The ends justify the means it doesn't matter how you get yours it's just business . and society promotes evil and blurs the lines to make themselves feel better about their desire. Attitudes like be kind and do something volunteer help someone out only matters if it's convenient or makes you appear good or it gives you a nice tax break. am proud of my own children hard-working ethically strong and doing okay. Make no mistake wealth can also be a curse. This decline is nothing new the best civilizations in history have succumbed to their own desires and neglected the basics till they became someone else's b**** I don't claim to have a crystal ball, but I will say in the pledge of allegiance ...do we remember what the pledge of allegiance ? one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all no wonder we don't say it in school anymore it doesn't really apply.

So..... whats the deal, Is the value of my 1931 Peugeot going up or down?

:poke:

What about my 2008 3runner limited with 45k miles? Couple of years away from being a classic but in 2022 I am planning for the future.....

SIMCA 1000 Classic Cars for Sale - Classic Trader

Im not gonna lie, I had to google that. Now I kinda want one. The yellow one with the bumble bee stripe is sweet! Plus it just screams "put a LS in me."

:)

Definitely value going up.

No wait, now I want the green one.

Wow, I was kidding. Seriously though, my Dad had a '65 1000 (sold through Mopar dealerships) and it was a hoot to drive. Something like the French version of a Volkswagen.
