I was wanting to know what mufflers or any other ways to get more of a v8 sound out of a Slant 6, I know it’s never really gonna be that close but I would still like to try!

I have Clifford headers and black widow muffler. It sounds deep and throaty. I would not do dual exhaust. Just go 2.5” from front to back.

I had a stock slant with a header and ran duals with low buck turbo mufflers. Sounded almost like a 8 at idle but once you hit the gas not so much.

reminds me of my ol cockshutt 40 tractor. It always sounds angry.
But its a 3 foot straight pipe.

I ran a header into a flowmaster scavenger with a 3" chambered muffler. at an idle with the hood closed I have fooled a bunch of people who thought it was a healthy V8.
I did raise the compression and ran a decent cam. it will never sound like a v8 at cruise or hard accel.

My Slant6 is running a Super Six set up and exhausts through Hooker headers 3 into 1, dual aluminized 2.25” custom built pipes w/ “H” pipe then through glass pack mufflers for ea. side to the back exiting through Cuda style bright tips. I think it sounds pretty throaty to me. When people are listening to it at idle they’ll swear it a V8, until I open the hood. All this wrapped up in a bright Orange ‘70 Challenger body really gets the questions started.

that's an easy one, just do what I did , toss that slant boat anchor in the nearest ditch and slap an engine that actually has 8 cylinders in there and tear up the neighborhood with open headers

Put a v8 distributor in it then cross rotate the 8 and 7 plug wires into a split manifold and plumb spark plugs into said split manifolds. Dont forget to cross rotate the wires or it will end up sounding like a straight 8.

That is the principle reason why a slanty can never sound like an SBM. When you separate a V8 into duals, you get the patented Harley-Davidson 5-7 back to back firings out the left pipe. Whereas slantys with duals fire a steady rhythm .
Slantys are;
bloop-bloop-bloop-bloop-bloop-bloop-, 1-5-3,6-2-4
bloop-bloop-bloop-bloop-bloop-bloop
V8s are;
rump-rump-rump-rump-rump-rumpidy-rump-, 1-8-4-3,6-5-7-2
rump-rump-rump-rump-rump-rumpidy-rump
Additionally at 700 rpm idle, a V8 fires 2800 times per minute, whereas the slanty at 550idle fires just 1650 times.The slanty would need to idle at 933 to match the 2800 pulse-count. And then it sounds really busy without the "rumpidy"

Watch till the end, that is a dyno max 3 chambered muffler with a 2 1/2 out the back.

Omg that makes me miss my slant six!!
When I drove mine I straight piped it for a while no muffler just a straight pipe from the converter back is was loud. Sounded like a 4 banger dirt car when I got on it but it sounded really good just idling and cruising. I ended up putting a thrush turbo muffler on it. Couldn't really hear it much. Sounds alot like the video idling

Not all v8s 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. PRRRRRR

I had a slant a while back, and I put a Terminator Muffler on it and 2 1/4 pipe. It sounded close to a V-8. Real nice rumble. Don't think they make that muffler anymore. Maybe a quiet Flowmaster or similar

Stock manifold 2.25 exhaust 27 inch glass pack thrush wanted aquite serial killer volume exhaust.
